Hi there @PD,

Thanks for your post and welcome to the Community.

We're sad to see you leave us!

When services are cancelled in the middle of a billing period, you will automatically receive a prorated credit to cover any days the service was not active within the said billing period. This normally happens within 1-2 billing cycles after cancellation.

Check out What you need to know if you cancel your serviceson Bell.ca to learn more.

Same here! I switched to Cogeco in May - and I’m STILL being charged, even though I returned all my equipment. I called them in June, and they said I would get a credit in July. Instead, they took money from my account again! Perhaps the CRTC needs to know…

You should verify the date that you requested for your mobility account to be deactivated and also your normal billing date. After deactivation, a final bill will be generated on your regular billing date.

All charges will be billed within 90 days of your cancellation date. If your service is cancelled in the middle of a billing period, you will receive a prorated refund for monthly fees billed at the beginning of the billing period that apply to the period after cancellation of your services.

Some charges if applicable, (e.g., international roaming) may take longer to generate and may need to be billed separately at a later date. If your service is subject to a commitment period and you cancel it before the end date, a cancellation fee will apply.

Should you require any further billing assistance, please call Bell Mobility: 1-800-667-0123

If I can be of further help, please let me know.

Has anyone experienced issues canceling Bell TV and internet service? I switched to another provider and Bell had a tech come to my home to disconnect the modem on Jan 14th and I returned the equipment on Jan 16th. I received a bill in February and when I contacted Bell they said my service was not cancelled and that I had to pay the February bill. I was expecting a credit on my next bill as that Feb bill indicated service to March 8 and service was cancelled during my call on Feb 17. To my surprise I received a March bill and it was for full service. I called Bell again today they said my service was not cancelled on Feb 17th. I wanted the March bill cancelled and a credit for overpaying February. The rep said she issued a credit and upon hanging up from her and logging into my bell it indicates I still owe on my account. Now I have to explain all again to yet another rep.

I’m very frustrated. I asked to keep my phone service active until March 31, but you canceled it on March 30. I also already paid my bill on March 24, yet I’m being charged again. I was told by phone I would only pay $20, but now I’m charged $63 for service from March 21 to 31. This is unacceptable. Refund the duplicate charge and fix this billing error immediately.

My internet service was officially cancelled today (April 10th), but I received a notification of a bill for the April-May billing period saying I owed a full month. I called customer service, and they said that the April-May bill is for the previous month. Why is the billing period listed as April-May if it is actually for March services?

Good Day @TheBeesKnees & Welcome.

"All of your services are billed a month in advance." This is the reason why the billing period is shown as April-May.

For example, if your account was activated on March 1st and your bill is printed on the 7th, your first invoice will include charges from your installation date of March 1st - March 31st. In addition to your regular monthly charges which are billed one month in advance, your bill will include charges for your usage, rate plan and features from the date you activated or if changes were made to your account.

You can view your billing date on MyBell and as well on your monthly bill. This date will remain the same each month as part of your monthly billing cycle.

"Your first bill could include charges for service for almost two months."

Your first bill will also include any service charges associated with the installation.

Your second and later bills will only include your regular monthly charges plus any fees or changes that you make to your service.

Similarly, when you add, remove or cancel a service or feature in the middle of your billing period, Bell will automatically adjust the charges, so you only pay for the time you subscribed to the service. Typically, you will see a prorated adjustment within 1-2 billing cycles after making the change.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

Hi @TheBeesKnees
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.

If you are being billed for a full month into May when you cancelled April 10th, it's most likely that your cancellation fell within a short time of when the bill was sent. For example if you had internet for $90.00/month, your bill cycle is from April 1st - May 1st and your bill was sent out on April 5th, you would receive the full month of charges. Additionally, you will receive another bill in May which will reverse the charges that you were billed from April 10th - May 1st, due to your cancellation.

If you're only looking to pay what is owed, there's some math you can do to determine how much is actually owed. To do this you take your monthly charge, divide it by 30 (days in a cycle) and multiple it by how many days you had the service and then add the taxes. In the scenario above you would do 90 (cost) / 30 (days in cycle) x 10 (days you had service) = 30 (total cost for 10 days of service) x 1.13 (tax rate if you're in Ontario) = $33.90.
Please note that any limited time credits are only applied to full billing cycles and are not prorated.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community.
