topic Internet early cancellation fee in My account

This is more or less complaint regarding customer experience. I just changed my internet from Rogers to Bell after getting promotional offer from door-to-door Bell salesman. Pricewise, it was a great deal since it was basically less than the price I was paying for Rogers service. But, when I asked about early cancellation fee, the sales man assured that there would be no such thing. (mentioning that the rogers service should be some promotional offer, not actual contract) He even said that he (Bell) would eat any cancellation fee if it happens. I know I should know better, and I'd probably still get the bell service due to the reduced price. But, such misinformation (i'd say, more or less flat out lying) from Bell sales doesn't look really good.

Not sure what cancellation fee you were asking about, but if it's a roger's cancellation fee that would be between you and Rogers. Bell has nothing to do with that.

The people going door to door (and calling you) to sell Bell/Rogers/Telus services are third party companies that are licensed to sell on their behalf. Its cheaper for them and in my cynical opinion gives them plausible deniability.

As for the early cancellation fee, all of the carriers have these. With Rogers, the early cancellation fee was based on the amount and remaining number of months on any active discounts. My current deal with Bell has a 24 month period. These are typically spelled out in the agreement provided after you accept the offer. One would think this should be provided before any agreement is made.

Good Day.

Please explain your reference to a cancellation fee. Have you contacted Bell Customer Service & discussed this matter with a representative? Have you requested further clarification? Did the salesman ask you if there was an early cancellation penalty? Did he reduce the price even further as an alternative?

I can only offer the following based on the limited information you have provided.

If you were under contract to Roger’s for a specified time period, it would be up to you to resolve this cancellation penalty with Rogers.

Similarly, if your service is subject to a commitment period and you cancel your Bell service before the end date, there may also be a cancellation fee that will apply.

Take care.

If there are no contracts ( I can't find mine) so no cancellation charges the why does another reply say cancellation fees apply?
