How to reset HH4000/Giga Hub admin password

I forgot my password for homehub and now couldn’t be able to recover that password.

The only article is guiding through password reset process with password requirement which is of odd.

Password recovery requires a factory reset (not a reboot) of the HH4K. The default admin password is the HH4K's serial number.

Instructions from Bell on how to do the reset is here . You hopefully have your Bell credentials handy (your account number, beginning with B1).

I don't understand. When you do a factory reset, the modem's admin password will be reset to factory default. What's the point of receiving the forgotten password after this?

If you set an admin password and you cannot log into your modem, you will have to do a factory reset.

Which hub do you have?

Review it first, record the instructions then simply follow them. Your password will be the serial number on the back of your modem. Remember! It is case sensitive.

Hi @ZaneP, I have just had my modem replaced, I went from 500Mbps to 3Gbps, this needed a modem replacement, on the old modem I had a custom SSID and PW with a static IP for my NAS, after the replacement I still see my old SSID shown but with the new speeds, when I try to login into the portal (192.168.2.1) using the old password it fails, I try using the new S/N of the new modem and still fails. I have factory reset 3 times using your link from bell but after the reset the SSID stays as my old SSID and the portal still doesn’t work. Any thoughts?

Hi @Networkingnoob

Bell replaced your modem with the GigaHub, I assume.

I'm not entirely clear on a few things you wrote:

How are you seeing the old SSID (or any SSID) without an admin login to the portal?
A new modem will have the default SSID issued by Bell, not the "old (custom) one"
Did you reset the modem to factory default by doing it on the modem itself, as shown in this link?
The reset should clear any existing modem admin password, and default to the S/N sticker on the box, as in this link . You should be able to log into the modem portal and change the admin password.

The SSID shown when trying to connect to the wifi in settings, when I open 192.168.2.1 it shows my old SSID in the web portal. I used the reset as per your link above and still shows my old SSID afterwards it’s confused me a bit. I’ll have to reach out to bell. Thanks

Try "admin" as password, without the "".

There's also a bug with the 4000, where it retrieves some of the old information when hooking up a new modem, like the WiFi configuration.

Also make sure to log in using a wired connection, just to make sure it's not a WiFi issue.

I tried admin and also fails. I am logging in over wifi so I will try directly connecting to see if this helps. Is there known fixes for the bug because that sounds exactly what I have?

I don't think there's a fix yet. I have seen others report similar situations.

I know myself I went through a few home hub 3000's and on 1 it "remembered" my settings while on other it did not.
