How to block a website on Bell modem

Does anyone know where to block a website within the modem HH3000 settings?

If there's no options here http://192.168.2.1/ then u can only use anti-virus softwares I think.

You'll need a 3rd-party router connected to the HH, to block a site for for all devices connected to the LAN.

Otherwise, a site-blocking app/security software would have to be installed on each device that connects to the HH.

Thank you. With all the cyber attacks going on you figure bell would support customers by providing a service through the modem point of entry for internet to a client's home.

This is a basic requirement. Specially for parental control. Why do we have to install MacFee. How does it work when I want to allow only say google class room URL for her computer. Need a way to whitelist list of sites. Is it possible?

The Bell modems don't allow admins to do content filtering. I don't see it anywhere on the dashboard.

So you could try to use a separate hardware firewall to block Youtube.

Or you could attach your own router to the Giga modem...a router that has a setting for URL filtering.

Or you you may be able to use OpenDNS on the Gigahub. Then configure it to block YouTube domains in the web content filtering settings. https://www.opendns.com/setupguide/#familyshield . You'll need to get into the DNS settings from the modem's dashboard. The GigaHub is a Sagemcom device. Note that the GigaHub may not be on the listed devices. Use at your own risk.

You can't. In my opinion not having parental controls available directly in the modem is something Bell could improve upon.

Coming in to this thread 2 years later because I was just trying to use the Bell modem to block websites I don't want my kids on and really disappointed this feature is overlooked and that I have to buy another router. The McAfee solution doesn't work because I can't install it on every device in my house. The technology to do this at the router level exists and Bell has overlooked it.

I agree that there are routers in the marketplace that have features we don't see on Bell's gateway modem/routers. The Home Hub(s) and Giga devices are from Sagemcom. As end-users/customers we don't know if their firmware can be updated to include the same features that are available on 3rd party routers.

It's likely that the majority of Bell's retail customers aren't interested in doing anything beyond the basics, after installation. So it's possible that Bell doesn't want the tech support headaches involved when customers try to configure their Home Hub to use more sophisticated features and run into problems.

As you wrote, getting your own router would be a solution.

There are no settings on any of the the Bell Home Hubs or Giga Hub to block, restrict & control access to inappropriate sites or an IP address.

Google Chrome Search has about the closest thing out there in terms of inappropriate searches. SafeSearch helps you manage explicit content in your search results, like sexual activity and graphic violence.

Google also has a very good Family Safety & Control web site

Microsoft Edge also has a Family Safety Web Site & App available.

There are no settings on any of the the Bell Home Hubs or Giga Hub to block, restrict & control access to inappropriate sites, an IP address or a specific application.

How are your children accessing your Wi-Fi network? Computer? Mobile device? Tablet? Browser?

I can give some suggestions that may be of assistance to you.

Mange all of the devices that are connected to your Wi-Fi network. E.g. Block or prevent internet access by user. Manage devices. Schedule usage times, freezes, pause, etc.

Hi there. I am looking for any guidance on having parental controls on certain websites. I understand that there is a time freeze option currently available. However I am referring to restricting access to certain websites on a permanent basis on my network without the time restriction. Is there any feature which can be used to perform this action?

Thank you for your question . To the best of my knowledge, Bell does not offer any kind of service such as you are seeking. However, there are third party paid programs and hardware which can do as you are asking. A little research on any search engine will give you some leads to what works and what does not.

There is no option built into the Bell Wi-Fi app to restrict access to specific websites. The Bell Wi-Fi app parental controls allow users to manage internet access for connected devices, including pausing or scheduling internet access for specific devices. Users can create profiles for individuals or groups of devices and set time restrictions or block access altogether. Bell Wi-Fi app and how do I use it.
