topic Connection Giga Hub through RFoG node in Internet

Hello,

I recently switched to Bell and would like to know if it is possible to use the RFoG device(silver box in the picture) to connect a Giga Hub via a MoCA adapter in another room.

I mean something like this: The fibre connector from Bell to the RFoG -> coaxial cable from RFoG in other room to MoCA adapter -> Ethernet from the MoCA adapter to the Giga Hub.

My purpose is to move the Giga Hub from the laundry(where the whole box is located) to another room where I can use the Giga Hub`s Ethernet ports(and also the place much better for a WiFi router - more space, no unnecessary obstructions, no dust, etc.).

I'd love to hear other options to achieve my goal! Thanks!

The simplest answer is no. The fibre optic cable must be plugged into the Giga Hub for Bell fibre optic to work. This is because the Giga Hub is registered to your local address. This has to do with the network protocol involved and the Optical Network Terminal being in the Giga Hub itself. RFoG is also a cable technology, from what I can tell, which Bell does not use.

Easiest is to use a switch in the other room location, and use an ethernet cable between the Home hub and the switch.

You can then add an AP for Wi-Fi services if needed.

Going to a Coax cable is not going to work as that is not supported on the home hub. They do sell ethernet to coax and coax to ethernet adaptors on Amazon, but I have never used them.

That would be another option if pulling an ethernet cable from room to room is not an option.
