What router or access point would work best with bell Fibe HH4000-e

Hi, The wifi in the basement is terrible. I have tried the bell pods and a netgear extender. I am now going to run a cat cable to the basement and connect computer, printer and tv directly with Ethernet cables. What router or access point would work best with bell Fibe HH4000-e. Thanks

Get a 5 port switch if you are planning on running cat cable to the basement. Pending on your Internet plan and estimated length of the cable run, you will need the proper CAT rated cable.

For switch I would get a simple 2.5 Gbit switch on Amazon or whatever retailer you prefer. Stick with brand names and stay away from the unknown brand names.

I would pay a bit extra for a good quality cable, and get a pre-made one closest to the length you would need. Unless you have the tools to crimp your own ends, it's best to get a quality pre-made one.

I myself use the square flat ones from Amazon as they are easier to hide and work with than the round ones.

Yes, the one to the basement would have to be close to what you would need. The ones to each devices can be a bit longer. It's always a good idea to have a bit extra in case you want to move the devices around a bit later.

I have a personal preference for Netgear brand of switches. I have used them for years. They are a consumer grade switch and work reliably and well.

The switches range from $30-300…. What is the difference that makes them so broad?

Some will be managed and can even be level 3 capable. Some will have POE capability, some will not.

In your case, you just need a 5 port unmanaged switch without POE. I would get 2.5 Gbps switch, but you could go gigabit.

The 2.5 Gbps capacity will make it more expensive, but it's worth the extra money.
