Can I have Bell internet and another internet provider at the same time?

Only able to have a certain speed for my internet connection in my area. I would like faster speed but it is not available. Other people in my house hold do not wish to switch from bell for many different reasons. My question is can I have a bell internet service and another internet provider coming into the same house?

Yes, but only as fail over. You will also need a proper router that supports fail over WAN connections.

You can technically speaking use load balancing on both, but with 2 different providers that is asking for more trouble than it's worth it.

For example UDM Pro can technically speaking do it, but how it practically works might not be ideal.

There's also the $600 cost for the UDM up front, besides the cost for 2 providers.

Thank you for your question. If you are looking at a second provider on a single Bell Bell fibre connection, the answer is no. You could run another fibre connection, but there are costs associated with that option. The other provider 's connection would likely not be as fast as Bell.

If you were to switch to another technology such as cable, that would be a completely separate installation, modem and billing. I had that exact setup during COVID when I had a slow DSL line with Bell and a requirement to do multiple video conferencing or broadcast TV. There were no issues except for cost.

Your other option would be as as @Vanadiel suggested.

I live in a house with multiple other people. The other tenants have their own internet and I need to get my own. They are very resistant to letting me get my own plan because they believe that having more than one internet service in one house will cause issues with the connection speed/stability. Is this true? They use NRTC I am trying to get Bell.

Good question. You don't say what kind of service you have. If you have fibre, you would need a additional fibre line and Giga Hub. There would be zero impact on your housemates. If you shared their service from the Giga Hub, there should be little impact on your service if you had a wired connection to the Giga Hub. During COVID I had Bell DSL and cable internet. I had no issues. Please also check the helpful replies with green checkmarks for other ideas.

Internet connections are provisioned and as such one will not affect the other.
