McAfee installation will not go past step 2

I tried to install McAfee, but the installation got stuck at this step. Now I can't turn off or restart my macbook, because the installation is in process. I tried force quit, but did not work. What should I do?

My MacBook air has M2 chip and MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Did you check out all of the system requirements listed in the Bell McAfee FAQs ?

We also recommend running the Pre Install tool which will clean up your system to allow for a clean install, and will also ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements.

Use this Pre Install link and: save the file to the desktop. Then follow the steps below.

Double-click McPreInstall.exe
Click Start inside the Preinstall Tool
Read the warning message and click OK
After the tool is done, click OK
Click Close and restart your computer
Once you have completed this, attempt to install McAfee again

Hi!

Macs already have built-in malware protection, therefore cannot get any traditional "viruses". The only area of concern is some malware, mostly adware, and it's easily avoidable. Do not install apps from unknown sources, and you'll be safe.
