Good morning.

I am am signed up for Bell Myfibe 1.5 Gbps service - with a Gigahub 5689e.

I have disabled the wifi signals on the Gigahub in order to use my Asus Nighthawk mesh system as the main wifi connection point - MR60 router and 2 MS60 satellites. The Asus router is in AP mode and wired via an ethernet port to the Gigahub.

When I run a speedtest on the Gigahub I am getting roughly 1.6 Gbps. When I run a speedtest (about 2 meters away from the access point) I am only getting speeds on the order of 400-500 Mbps.

Is this speed drop-off normal?

Thank you for your question. Briefly, the answer is yes. You will always get the fastest speeds from a directly wired connection to the Giga Hub. A wireless speed test will reach 1300Mbps from the Giga Hub on the most up to date wireless devices such as the iPhone 15 Pro and higher, which can connect with the 6e wireless protocol. However, wireless speed diminishes the further you are from either the Giga Hub or your router.

Looking at a couple of reviews of that particular router and it's clones (Netgear) it appears that it does have some stability issues with wireless connections. I can only suggest you upgrade to the latest firmware and see if that improves things.
