Is there a way for me to split the wifi bands while still being able to use the POD in my room ?

Hi,

I've been pulling my hair out recently with this problem and have never been able to find a fix yet.

Here is my setup. I have the Bell router Gigahub latest model I think with fiber optics and the fastest plan subscription.

I have a bell pod set up in my room because this is a dead spot and wifi signal gets blocked... Therefore I had to activate the Whole Bell wifi feature on the router, the biggest issue I have with this is that I can't access the 5ghz Wifi band anymore when I do this, I recently got a brand new 4K TV and when I try to stream content it's just buffering all the time and my PS5 too has a slow internet connection because I'm guessing it's also stuck with the 2.4ghz wifi band.

My question is there a way for me to split the wifi bands while still being able to use the POD in my room ? I'm seriously considering switching internet providers if it's not possible because I really think this doesn't make much sense.

I see a few solutions : Deactivating the Whole wifi option on the router so I can split the bands, but by doing this the computer in my room gets a very slow wifi connection and I just can't allow that... I need a fast connection there for work and gaming purposes.

Another alternative I've been thinking about is maybe trying to connect my TV with a ethernet cable to the router directly but it's pretty far away so I'll need to conceal the cables which isn't very convenient in my case because of the way the walls are setup.

Thanks a lot for your help !

Ethernet cable is the best option. Another option, pending the distance, is an external aftermarket long range AP.

Hey there @NicholasThomas,

Thanks for your post 🙂

You can try temporarily disabling the Whole Home Wi-Fi until you get the device set up on your network and then re-enable Whole Home Wi-Fi so you can continue to use your Pods.

Take a look at the helpful reply in this thread for a step by step: Split 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands on the Bell Home Hub 3000/4000/Giga Hub

I have a Giga Hub and a Pod.

Over the last few months my phone ONLY (iPhone15Pro) stops working.

It is connected but does not pass traffic and I believe this is an issue with 180Mhz channels and this iPhone.

I'd like to adjust the channels for both 5Ghz and 6Ghz to 80Mhz from 180Mhz and NOT have Bell use 40Mhz for a 2.4Ghz spectrum (which is ridiculous on so many levels that this is a thing as there are only 3 channels to use for 2.4Ghz).

Every time I try to do this, I turn off Whole Home and save it.

I make my changes and again save them. Bell reverts these change back every single time.

My questions are:

Do I need Whole Home in order to use a Pod?

Does Whole Home have to be on?

How can I make static changes and have them stay if Whole Home has to be on?

Thank-you.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community.

You can temporarily turn the whole home Wi-Fi in your modem GUI OFF which will allow you to connect to the band of your choice, and then turn whole home Wi-Fi back ON afterwards so that you can continue to use your Bell Wi-Fi pods.

Please check out the steps in the link we posted above, and let us know if you have any other questions.

I have a Bell 3Gbps fibre connection with 2 Bell WiFi 6E pods. I also have Apple home kit smart home accessories that only operate on 2.4Ghz.
With 5Ghz and 6Ghz enabled, I get upwards of 250mbps speed. But as soon as I turn off 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands, my speed drops to 50mbps.
Is there a way to have my smart home accessories operate on 2.4Ghz band and I control them using my iPhone connected to the same network while I could be on 5Ghz or 6Ghz band?
I have tried turning off 5Ghz and 6Ghz but then even my WiFi pods go offline and stay offline and speed reduces to 25%. By turning on Wifi Optimization, it automatically turns on the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands, speed improves but my smart home accessories go unresponsive.
Any help would be genuinely appreciated.

Thanks for your question. Using the Bell pods requires that WiFi Optimization be turned on in the Giga Hub. Bell pods do not offer native Apple Home Kit integration, as you have discovered. It is a "one or the other" situation, at least right now.

It should work, as the devices should all be communicating with each other regardless of the wifi band they are on.

I don't think the home hub supports isolation of the wifi network.

I have experienced a ton of issues since switching from Roger’s. iPhones will drop connectivity while showing good signal in the bell wifi app. My sons Nintendo switch which is not compatible with 6e will show connected 5g to the pod but the pod shows 6e to the modem and he’s not actually online. I’ve had to connect older streaming devices to a 2.4 on my range extender to ensure they will work. If I disable whole home internet to broadcast individual networks I lose the belll pod which is required because the technician brought the fibe modem into the absolute rear of my home.

ordered a replacement modem to possibly fix random dropped iPhone and work from home laptop connections while showing good connection status.

high tech internet but horrible experience I think I’m going back to rogers I never had an issue. If it’s not broken don’t fix it I guess.

I am trying to install a Home Charger. I have a Gigahub Mesh setup. To configure the charger the setup states, I need a dedicated 2.4 ghz network with a signal strength of at least -67 dBm. When i configure the Gigahub to just the 2.4GHz band, it disables the pods and my bandwidth is -50 dbm. When I have both 2.4 Ghz and 5.0 Ghz enabled, I have a strngth of -71 dBm but the charger cant connect

Do I need to get a WIFI access point for the 2.4 GHZ band?

Good Day.

Thank you for posting your question.

You can try to temporarily disable the Whole Home Wi-Fi until you get the device set up on your network and then re-enable Whole Home Wi-Fi so you can continue to use your Pods. This will allow you to connect to the band of your choice and then turn whole home Wi-Fi back ON afterwards so that you can continue to use your Bell Wi-Fi pods.

Take a look at the helpful reply in this thread for a step by step:

Split 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz bands on the Bell Home Hub 3000/4000/Giga Hub

Let us know how if you require further assistance.

Take care.

Thank you for your question, I think you are asking if you can connect only with 2.4 GHz wireless with the Bell pods. The answer is no. The pods require Whole Home Internet be turned on in the modem to work at all. That means the modem and pods find the best frequency to connect. If you turn it off to have only 2.4 GHz internet, the pods won’t work.
