How to access local network from internet using a DDNS name?

I have a DDSN name from NO-IP that I want to use access one of my device on my local network. When I use the command NSLOOKUP ddsn-name, the IP address of my Bell router is shown up. The information was inserted into the DDSN menu of the Bell router with successful configuration: "SYNCRHONIZED"

If I try to do "ping ddsn-name", the router does not respond.

I cannot reach the device inside my local network.

I would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

Might have to put the device in ADMZ mode. Even then it might not work though.

Easier just to use PPPoE on the device. Ubuntu/Debian have an Advanced Network Configuration utility. Just add a connection and enter your bxxxxx credentials. The bell Gigahub just passes it through.

You can use ddclient, easily installed with apt, to update No-ip, or you can use the update client from No-IP, althoug I have not recently used it.

Only note with ddclient is to be sure to tag the PPPoE link as the internet connection. Dclient will ask for your credentials and the web address you want to use.

No need for DMZ

PPPOE bypasses the Gigahub completely. You will have a public IP for that device.

Do remember to set up the firewall on the device.
