Folks,

Despite initially being able to access the USB drive connected to my Home Hub 3000 router, I am no longer able, as confirmed via the following exception I'm now receiving:

About a month ago, I did install Norton 360 but I'm not sure that it what's behind the behavioural change. I've tried disabling Norton but that hasn't altered my outcome.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated...thx!

Regards,

Hey @stillyy4u. Since the USB drive is working on other computers it seems possible the issue lies with the computer that you recently installed Norton Anti-Virus on.

We recommend checking the Advanced sharing settings & the Network and sharing Centre to see if your Wi-Fi connection/network is set to public or private, and also confirm that the network discovery is set properly.

Check out the images below for a closer look at the settings.

Hey Patricia,

Okay, despite MANY recent attempts at mapping a local drive to the thumb drive plugged into the HH3000 -- all of which have failed (hence the reason for raising this post) -- this time, it worked -- AGAIN!

Sadly, much like the inexplicable reason as to why this access mysteriously stopped working earlier, I cannot explain why it's now working again, as I've not applied any recent changes since implementing Norton A/V; that said, I have applied some O/S-related updates so not sure if that's made a difference.

In any event, as I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, I'm just happy I'm back in business!

Thank you for your assistance in working with me on this concern. It was very much appreciated!

...stillyy4u

Cannot access USB drive connected to my Home Hub 3000 router

I have connected a 1TB (actually tried two different drives) to the Home Hub 3000 USB port, hoping to use it as a network visible drive; tried both USB ports. The drive shows in the router management app fine. According to all Bell instructions, all I need to do then is access \\mynetwork through File Explorer and I should see the drive. Absolutely no way does this work. I get a pop-up windows stating "Windows cannot access \\mynetwork, with error code 0x80004005. Following suggestions from various users, I have activated SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support (Automatic Renewal, Cline, and Server) in various combinations — all with no success. It doesn't appear anywhere in File Explorer, including under "Network", although I can see all my printers, etc.

Using Windows 11 24H2; Intel Ethernet I219-V; Bell Home Hub 3000

Extremely frustrating. Is there an issue with Windows 11? or what? Any help really appreciated.

Sure, that gives me access to he router, but not to the USB drive other than to show that the drive is connected to the router through USB. Can neither read nor write to the drive via that route.

This issue keeps coming back for me but power cycling the router allows me to read and write to the drive for a few weeks usually. I havent found a more permanent solution but it's worth a try to see if that helps you

Colint430: I have tried that, but will give it another whirl later today. (What's the definition of insanity? "Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result." That doesn't apply in the IT world!

Tried the reboot — unplugged the router, waited about 60 sec, repowered. No joy. Frustration continues. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a function of Windows 11.
