Thank you, Welsh Terrier, for your response and for trying to be helpful. The main point of my post was that the password recovery feature that the modem promised does not work and Bell knows that. But the promise is still there. Thank you for the information. I am aware of how to change the password. I am also aware that I could reset the modem. I'd just rather not have to go through that if the password recovery feature actually did work. Thanks again and have a lovely day.

The desktop app [http://192.168.2.1] to manage the Bell Home Hub 2000 states that "To recover your password, press the password recovery button on your modem. Your password will be sent to [your email] and [your phone]. This is a lie. After hours and hours of going in circles and TWO calls to Bell technical support, they finally admitted that the 2000 is basically "old technology" and that feature is NOT SUPPORTED.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

I have enclosed the support page for your Home Hub 2000 modem.

Home-Hub-2000-modem: Complete List of How-tos and Tutorials from Bell

Home Hub 2000

Please select the link below & follow the included instructions that I have provided.

Select Get started for a step-by-step guide. Select > Find Wi-Fi password. You will now need to select the Home Hub 2000 modem from the supplied list of modems to obtain the proper instructions.

(The video at the top of the website page applies to the HH3000, 4000, & Giga Hub modems only!)

Bell Internet Wi-Fi usernames and passwords: Wi-Fi password troubleshooting

There are three options available for you to use to access your Wi-Fi password on the HH 2000 modem:

You can find your default Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password on the sticker located on the back of the modem. If you have changed your network name and password, go to the next step to find them using the Bell Wi-Fi app.

Open the Bell Wi-Fi app and log in with your MyBell username and password. On the top of the Adapt screen, touch the hidden Wi-Fi password. The existing password is shown. If you do not have the Wi-Fi app installed, go to the next step to find them in your modem's settings.

Open your web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari). Access your modem by typing: either www.bell.ca/mymodem or 192.168.2.1 in the browser's address bar. Click on the Modem settings button. If prompted, enter the administrator password. The default password is the serial number located on the stick on the back of the modem. Under the Manage my Wi-Fi heading, you’ll find your network names and passwords. If you don’t, ensure your primary Wi-Fi network is set to ON.

If all of these steps prove to be unsuccessful, please contact Bell Internet Tech Support at: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) for further guidance & assistance.

Take care.

Thank you. The Bell Home Hub 2000 does indeed include the physical button for password recovery, and the button blinks when pressed. But no email nor text message is sent as is promised within the application. This situation was reported on (in Reddit) at least as early as 2000 and at that time it was brought to the attention of the service provider. After at least five years, the instructions provided to users continues to be inaccurate.
