Hi:

I ran out of ports on my Bell GigaHub, when I connect my Unifi POE switch it doesn't obtain an IP address, This is issue doesn't happen if I connect to another router (Rogers or Cogeco).

What settings I need to change on the Bell GigaHub to use my Unifi switch?

Should be able to connect it to one of the ethernet ports on the Gigahub, and it should get an IP when you setup the WAN of the Unifi switch to use DHCP.

It will be double NAT, but it should work without an issue.

This solution didn't work, the switch doesn't obtain an IP adresss, hence I can't get to the switch setup, to configure the WAN to use DCHP.

The switch isn't obtaining an IP from the Giga Hub, only keeps the switch default IP, sometimes obtains an IP but it doesn't hold it to be able to configure or provide traffic. I did some research and looks like it's an issue with the bell giga hub and this switch in particular.

If it's a managed switch it would not obtain an IP from the home hub. It would instead use it's preset IP, than can be configured under the switch settings.

You have to make sure that IP is outside the DHCP range of the home hub's address range, as otherwise you could end up with an incorrect configured network.

What is the model number of the switch?

It seems some of the replies you're getting are related (double NAT) to connecting a Unifi gateway to the Gigahub. If in fact it's just a switch you're connecting it should indeed simply work. I would recommend you do a factory reset on the switch and try again and it would not hurt to try different cabling as well. If you want the switch connected at 10Gbe then you'll need to use an SFP+ port (with RJ45 module) connected to the 10Gbe port on the Gigahub but why not try a 1Gbe port to keep things simple.

I see now where the confusion comes from POE instead of PPPOE.

So if it's just a switch, it should connect without an issue. But if it's a managed switch you have to make sure the IP of the switch is outside of the IP range of the home hub.

Ubiquti switches are a bit odd, as they also need Unify OS to configure (if it's managed). You can run that as a separate program under Windows.

I’ve just upgraded to the Giga Hub 2.0 and I cannot seem to get my UniFi switched to obtain an IP form the modem. I tried first with the UniFi USW 24 PoE which I had working previously with my Giga Hub. Also connected was my UniFi Cloud Key Gen 2+.

After much back and forth with Bell and UniFi, I ordered a new Unifi switch, a UniFi 16 Pro PoE.

Unfortunately, the same problem.

Anyone have any luck with a UniFi switch and the new Giga Hub 2.0?

Help!

Connect all your unify equipment together but not to the home hub.

You can then log into unify on your cloud key to configure your unify and unify devices.

Once configured they can be connected to the home hub. Since these are managed switches you have to make sure they are setup without conflicting with the DHCP server range of the home hub. You will also have to configure the Unify DHCP server as such.

I use Uniquity products throughout my home and they work without ever giving me an issue.

Forgot to add that Unify will detect connected Ubiquity equipment and adopt it, which normally auto configures them for you with all the basic settings.
