How do you upgrade your modem to Giga Hub 2.0?

Giga Hub 2.0 was announced today and the press releases stated existing customers can upgrade to the Giga Hub 2.0.

How do you do that?

This is a brand new product: The Giga Hub 2.0 modem with Wi-Fi 7 is available now on all Bell Pure Fibre Internet plans for new and existing customers with an eligible address. To check availability, visit Bell.ca, call Bell or visit a local Bell store.

I would start with checking your address to see what plans are available for your area, and then talk with a Bell representative about upgrade options. My understanding is the upgrade to the 2.0 hub is not free and there is one or more fees associated with it.

New plans will come with the 2.0 hub (if available in your area).

I know that I am fine in regards to availability because I am already using the 1.5 GB plan. There isn't anything discussing how to upgrade.

Best I could find was this. Don't know where they got that information from so it might not be correct.

"If you are an existing Bell customer with one of the company’s Pure Fibre plans, you can check online or in stores for how to upgrade your existing Giga Hub to the new Wi-Fi 7 version.However, it will cost you $y7 per month to upgrade of a $199.95 one-time rental fee. If you upgrade you speeds to 3Gb speeds you get the new modem for free."

@Vanadiel, thanks for the tip. You can change your modem in My Bell using the Change Features (you need to select your current internet package). Yes, there is a charge, $7 a month rental fee or $199.95 "rental fee" one time charge.

However, there is no way to get past the select a modem.

Update: Found the spot. The Bell UI has something to be desired. The button was at the very bottom where the footer is.

Honestly for that amount of money I would get my own WiFi solution instead. Unless you upgrade for another reason besides the WiFi, that to me is not worth the price.

I’m not sure it’s worth it for just the router either. If they gave you a couple pods with that $7, maybe. I’ve been having issues with my router so I was hoping they were replacing existing ones.

It may. Much depends on where you are. If you can, there will be an update button in your MyBell account, I believe.

Good Day.

Yes, it may be possible to do so. If you wish to change your modem from a Home Hub 4000 to a Giga Hub 2.0, please check out its availability on your MyBell account.

Login to your MyBell account. Select > Internet.
Go to the right side of the page. Select > Manage my package and features
Select > Change features. Select > Add or Remove a feature & choose the feature you wish to add or remove.
Select > Modem. Select > Giga Hub 2.0. Select > One-time rental fee or Monthly rental fee.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Select > Continue.
Follow the onscreen prompts to confirm your changes.

I just contacted bell today and they have upgraded me to the new giga hub 2.0. There is a $7 credit available that makes the modem free. Might be worthwhile contacting bell soon!

I just installed by Giga Hub 2.0. It is basically plug and play replacing the Giga Hub. Here are my own installation notes and comments.

As the instructions state, unplug the power supply from the Giga Hub & the outlet. Set aside.
Carefully remove the fibre line from the Giga Hub.
Remove remaining network cables and phone lines. Set Giga Hub aside.
Plug the new power supply in to the Giga Hub 2.0 and socket.
Insert the fibre cable into the green fibre socket. Don’t force it. It only goes one way
Plug the network cables and phone line into the back of the Giga Hub.
Set the modem aside to configure itself. Go walk the dog, as this will take 10 minutes or so.
Once the Giga Hub 2.0 is up and running, do a speed test.
Go to the modem front, scroll through the menus using the up/down arrows until the modem password is highlighted and press OK. Your modem password is the same if this is replacing an existing installation.
Log into the modem dashboard and confirm all your settings. They should have come over automatically.

Notes.
Gen 1 pods no longer work and have to be returned to Bell.
Bell provides a courier label to return your modem and power supply in the shipping box.

One other detail. When I did a speed test, I noticed my profile was off with upload well below download. They should be close to the same speeds. I ran the Virtual Repair Tool, found either on the MyBell web page or in the app. That rebooted the modem and the profile was symmetrical again.

I called on Friday to put an my modem upgrade and was told I could order it on the Bell App. All went smoothly. I received an email confirming it would be shipped in 3/5 days. The next morning a technician came to install it but I was not home. I called to find out the issue was and was told to reschedule an appointment that I never scheduled in the first place. 3 phone call later and 2 from Bell Resoultion to try and get this done. This process took way too long and was very complicated. I’m wondering what bell loyalty could do for you? Anyone?

Thanks for your comment. You might wait for a few days to see if the modem you ordered arrives. Once you have it, read and follow the installation instructions. Call 1-866-310-2355 if you have issues.

Were you able to move to GH2.0? If yes, how is it compare to the HH4000? Did you get a credit for it? Were you able to ship back the old modem for free? Sorry for tons of questions. I would like to move to the GH2.0 but i want to make sure it is worth the call.

Thinking of making the move to Wi-fi 7. Currently have the Gigahub 1.0, two wi-fi 6E pods on the 8Gb plan.

On the MyBell app, it indicates that the Gigahub 2.0 is available with the 6E pods. Are wi-fi 7 pods coming soon? I see on a Bell internet support page that there's also a TP-link wifi 7 hub and am wondering what the use case is?

When I upgrade, I want to do so comprehensively rather than get the Gigahub 2.0 now and other pieces later. Thank you.
