Good Day & Welcome

Which Bell modem do you have? There is a password recovery button on most Bell modems. If this button is accidently pushed or it is stuck in place and the option is turned on in your modem, an email will be generated and sent to you with your modem & Wi-Fi passwords. There could also be a glitch in the modem. You can try powering your modem completely by unplugging it from the power source, waiting 20 seconds then plugging it back in to see if it makes a difference.

You can also confirm this by logging in to your modem and verify this by changing your modem & Wi-Fi passwords.

Access the modem's settings: Open a web browser and go to either this link: My Bell Modem or type 192.168.2.1 in the address bar.

Log in: Click "Modem log in" or "Modem settings". If prompted, the default administrator password is the serial number on the sticker on the back of the modem.

How to set up password recovery on my Home Hub 4000/Giga Hub modem

I can't figure out how / why I am getting emails sent from my modem to me multiple times a day. They are legit from Bell, support cannot seem to help me.

In the past you could ONLY get those mails if your email registereed in the admin console was a bell.ca account, gmail would not get the mails. This seems to be changed recently.

That being said why would this happen multiple times a day? As precaution I renamed my SSID and changed ALL the passwords for my admin long AND wifi but I still get these mails.

Reaching out to Bell fraud has gone nowhere and they never call me back.

Those are scam emails. They are not legitimately from Bell. I get them regularly as well. I ignore them or delete them.

The thing is they contain legit information. It shows accurate SSID of my wifi and the passwords are accurate even when I changed it all in the last few hours. Lastly checking the mail headers theyu are all legit originating (seemingly) from bell.ca. Sure this can be spoofed, but I would expect bell.ca smtp servers to catch that.

End result is I feel tthey are 100% coming to me as if soneone is pressing the'key' on the Home Hub, or via the admin console in the Home UI and being sent to me (the email registered in the UI. Pressing the key on the home hub us unlikely as it's literally 2 feet away from me.

I feel it's the modem is auto-sending the information.

You could test this out very quickly by changing the password and not press the button.

Just to see if you get the new password or the old one. Could be a stuck button also, or a glitch.

Another thing to try is power cycling the modem, as maybe it's stuck in a loop.

Yes. With the clarification, a stuck button makes the most sense.

Hello,

I have received multiple emails from noreply@bell.ca that have contained my correct Modem and WIFI password even though I didn’t request this information. Bell support has been very little help so far.

I have no idea why I’m receiving these emails but I’m concerned considering the sensitive info these emails contain.
