Good Day and Welcome @Aspendad

Thank you for posting your question.

This is a peer-to-peer website. As such we do not have access to your account and billing records. I can provide you with the conditions & details for keeping a Bell email address.

To start off with: "You cannot keep your Bell email address if you fully cancel your Bell Internet or qualifying data service, unless it is actively transferred to another active Bell Internet or Bell Mobility data account beforehand."

You can request to transfer your @Bell.net or @Sympatico.ca email address to another active Bell account (such as a family member or friend's active Bell Internet service), but this must be arranged before you cancel your original service.

You can keep your Bell webmail email account provided you meet the following criteria:

Your email address must remain under the same MyBell account with either Internet or Mobility service attached to the account.

You are able to continue to use it as long as it is maintained on an active account on a continuous basis.

You will need to maintain a Bell Internet account or a Bell Mobility account device with data such as a phone, tablet, smartwatch, or mobile internet hardware (Turbo Hub, Turbo Stick or MiFi) connected to a specific cellular plan that includes mobile data access on a continuous basis.

"Do you meet all of these criteria? If so, then you should confirm this with a Bell Customer Service representative. You need to do this prior to making any changes that would affect your Bell email account & internet service."

This cannot be completed after the service is disconnected!

If you cancel your Internet account & you do not have an active mobility data account or related service attached at the time, then your Bell webmail email account would be closed & cannot be reopened & activated. Once it is closed, there is no method to retrieve any of the information you may have stored on Bell's webmail server.

To contact Bell, please call: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or for a mobility postpaid account: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Please explain to the representative exactly what you wish to do.

Take care.

I want to make sure my Sympatico Email is safe!

OK, the title may not explain much about what I need answers to, so here's a better explanation. My wife and I recently moved to Alberta, from Ontario, where we've lived all our lives. We've had Sympatico Email address since the beginning of time, or at least 30+ years, and I'm currently still paying for Fibe internet service in order to keep these addresses. Bell Fibe isn't available in Alberta, so I've now got Telus Fiber Internet. Also, we've kept our Bell Mobility accounts in order to keep our phone numbers, and had a Bell Satellite dish installed for TV. The guy at the Bell store says that our current Sympatico email accounts are now linked to our mobility accounts. I'm not completely sure that he is correct, but I can't afford to keep paying for Internet in Ontario in order to keep our Sympatico email addresses either. So, can I safely cancel my current Fibe internet account (already closed out our Satellite and Home Phone accounts in Ontario) and not worry that all our emails will be lost and our Sympatico accounts will be closed.

Thanks for any help and suggestions,

Dale Morton

I think they might be wrong.

See here.

Bell email

If cancelling your Bell Internet service: your Bell email address can no longer be used/accessed and all emails will be lost.

If switching from Bell Internet to Bell Mobile Internet: you can transfer your Bell email to your new account. Please request the transfer when cancelling Bell Internet.

So it's not just switching to mobile, but switching to mobile internet which is a different product than a mobility account.

To be 100% sure I would wait until a Bell representative picks up this thread and provides an "official" answer.

Hi @Aspendad
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Yes, cancelling your internet will result in the loss of your email, but there is a possibility of having it transferred to a Bell Mobile Internet account, or in some cases a transfer to another internet account can be done. We'd like to take a closer look at this for you and have sent you a private message.
Please check your Messages within your profile avatar in the top right corner.
Unsure how to check or send a private message?
