Just tried, shut off the Bell wifi that was broadcasting SSID and DHCP, assumed that this wouldn't effect the hidden wifi for Bell TV as mentionned here and in many other posts. No luck and no idea why this happened, TVs complained of no wifi, even tried the 5 minute connecting sequence (go to the modem , go to the TV...). So, I've started up the broadcasted wifi again and re-enabled DHCP...after a reboot of everything, TV and internet to TV is back. Fun day...at least got PPPoE working for my ASUS mesh.

GigaHub & Asus router - which settings should I use?

I have plugged my own wifi router into one of the ethernet ports on the Gigahub to serve our PC's, mobile devices and IOT, while the HH4000 serves the Fibe TV boxes. My router has WAN config options, DHCP, static IP or PPPoE. I could use advice which option I should use please.

I wanted to do that when I first got the Giga Hub and the Fibe android boxes, but when I tried after they were first installed, those boxes wouldn't let me scan for WiFi, seemed locked to Bell hubs. I posted this to the community but no relevant info yet.

chgrbt
Contributor III

‎07-23-2023 09:00 AM - edited ‎07-23-2023 09:51 AM

Hi, searched for info on this question and it doesn't seem like anyone has asked this before. I'd like to connect the Fibe TV Box 7802 to my home wifi system instead of the Bell 4000 Hub. However, in the Fibe TV Box 7802 settings, it seems like you only have the choice to connect wifi to Bell's 2000, 3000 or 4000 hubs. I'd like to know if these limited options are intentional or if someone knows that there's a way to connect the Fibe TV Box 7802 to different wifi networks. Thx

You shouldn't need to have DHCP server running on the modem. Your Asus will do that.

I may have mis-worded my reply re the wifi SSID for tv. All wifi can be disabled by turning off Whole Home Wi-Fi in the modem settings. But the radio band for tv will turn itself back on after a reboot of the modem. According to one of our Community Moderators this has been fixed. Others disagree.

I know there is a python script available to permanently disable that radio. But you won't find it on this forum and I'm not advocating for it.

I don't know why your Fibe TV box demands to be connected to a Bell modem. I don't have one.

Maybe someone who has this receiver will contribute to this thread.

Keep us posted on developments!

Cheers,

ZaneP
