What email software are you using to retrieve your Bell email now? I think Outlook would be expecting a .pst file in order to import email that's been exported.

But more to the point, I obviously don't know why you want to export your email. Since Outlook will no longer allow adding other accounts, you could get a Gmail account now, and add Bell as a mail account. No exporting is required.

Over time you may want to stop using Bell email altogether.

I log into webmail.bell.net over the internet. I want to export my emails because bell is discontinuing service in my building so I am changing internet providers so my bell accounts will be closed.

I was going to use outlook because it is familiar and I had a microsoft account already.

I agree about stopping using bell or any email associated with your internet provider. That is why I am not using the email with my new provider.

I don't think you can export your Bell mail. Others should join in this conversation to correct me if I'm wrong!

Also, you're out of luck syncing Outlook with any other mail accounts, even though you have a Microsoft account.

From the Microsoft support site:

"Microsoft removed the ability to connect any other accounts to Outlook.com on May 10, 2021, but accounts connected before May 10, 2021, will continue to sync. "

I suggest getting a Gmail account and syncing your Bell email account with it until the service in your building is discontinued. This will give you time to review past email, purge it, send out your new email address to contacts, etc.

Or you could set an auto-forward on your Bell account, to forward email to a new Outlook account. Obviously this will only work on new incoming mail.

I imported a secondary email into gmail and it worked but did not import sent or any subfolders. Is syncing the same or something different?

That's how Gmail works, when importing another email account. You won't get sent mail or subfolders, as far as I know. I assume you followed the steps in Gmail Settings/Accounts and Import.

Here's a good article on how syncing works (which is not the same as importing): https://www.popsci.com/how-to-sync-emails-gmail-android-outlook-ios/

I think you're well on your way to getting your "legacy Bell email" under your own control before the plug is pulled on Bell services. I'd rather not go too much further with this topic, as I think we're straying too far from Bell-related issues. Hope you understand.

Best of luck with everything!

One wants to export mail because mail is also an archive of previous conversations from family and friends and business associates. When switching services there is valuable information that is not organized elsewhere that one does not wish to lose.
