Lets get it clear. Bell Canada are allowing texts from non verified numbers that have the vast majority of spam messages.

Bell Canada log text numbers received in complaints. This is USELESS

as now, spammers now change their number after each batch of messages.

The problem is Bell Canada does not look at the carrier verification part of the message, its a bit like looking at the name of the internet service provider attached to an IP address.

Spam Text messages are BLANK, there is no Text, whats in there is an Image that looks like a text. Bell Canada do not look at that image and or block text messages with that same information in that text. Thats were Bell Canada has failed twice.

In sum, Bell canada fail to block known spammer sources and or fail to examine text contained in an image that is in a blank text. Bell Canada have us all spending huge amounts of time reporting spammer texts and fail to use any common sense to protect customers.

I'll post separately about Spam calls and the similar problem that is Bell Canada's failure to do what carriers do in the USA in requiring verified callers.

The you have Bell Canada's forum here. The reply box is so small, its designed to prevent replies. That's classic Bell. Each time I've tried Bell, I've sworn never again.

When is Bell going to verify Senders of Text Messages as verified or potential spam or Known spam?

I get a dozen text messages a day with Images offering employment, all fraud.

These used to be just texts, but increasingly, they only contain an image that looks

like a text. Bell fail to stop these texts , the numbers are always from VOIP numbers with a classic IP

address and a known spam sender.

If you report it to Bell it does not stop.

Reporting to Apple does help a lot.

Its really simple, In the USA you can get these filtered or warnings

and or more action is taken.

I see the same text in an image that is slightly different sent repeatedly

from different numbers.

Bell appears to have made no effort to address spam texts and or fake

spoofed calls from internet addresses and failing to include the internet address in the call display info

that can be done. I've seen it on a VOIP phone showing this incredibly usefull info.

Hey there @Ramjet ,

Welcome to the community and we can understand your frustration.

This is undoubtedly a scam. Known as "smishing".

Remember, we will never send you a direct SMS regarding bill "corrections, credits etc." and will never direct you to click on a 3rd party website/images or send account info via SMS etc. When in doubt, always play it safe and never click any link.

Please forward the smishing attempt to 7726 (SPAM), delete the SMS and block the number for your security.

If you suspect that you have fallen victim to a smishing scam, don’t hesitate to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to report it.

The most important part of fraud prevention is education and awareness. Knowing about the different types of fraud, how to identify fraud attempts and what they look like, along with what to do next if you suspect fraud are key to increasing your protection.

Thank you for your concern. The reply box is dynamic i.e. you can type and your cursor and text moves down in the reply box. You can see the whole of your reply by using the Preview function in the upper right corner of the reply box. There may be a character limit, but I have never met it. It is also useful to remember that Canadian regulation of carriers is through the CRTC and not any US regulatory agency. The CRTC's carrier regulations are what Bell is obligated meet.
