Public Safety Alert feature

There was a public safety alert sent out by the government last weekend, but I did not receive a notification, neither did my husband and daughter. Is this because we only use wi-fi and not the LTE cellular network? I checked 'Notifications' on the phone settings and there was no option available to enable government alerts. We all use an iPhone 12.

Hey there @FEC ,

In this case, your assumption would be correct. Wireless emergency notifications are currently only pushed via AM/FM radio, TV, and public wireless networks. As you were only connected to your home internet, not the local wireless network, the notification was unable to be pushed through to both yours and your husband's device.

To ensure your compatible device receives the emergency alert, it must be connected to an LTE cellular network at the time the alert is issued. If your compatible device is connected to Wi-Fi, the alert may not be received.

Phone Compatibility with BC Alert System

Is my SM J320W8 compatible with the BC Alert System. I notice the J3 phones are - not certain if mine is.

I didn't receive the recent BC test alert.
