Please review the following. If you can answer yes to all of the following points, then there is no reason why you can not use Wi-Fi for cellular calling. I have attached a link at the end of this message that explains Wi-Fi calling & how to use & set it up on your mobile devise.

1. Are you using a Smartphone? 2. Do you have Internet available to you? 3. Do you have a strong Wi-Fi signal?

If so, when there is no mobility signal or it is a weak signal available, you can use WI-Fi for cellular calling!

Most Bell plans offer Wi-Fi calling as a free service. If your plan covers it & you have a Smartphone, simply turn this feature on in your phone settings.

You will be able to use Wi-Fi Calling in any location in Canada that is out of cellular coverage and has a Wi-Fi network you can connect to. These places include basements, in buildings, underground, hospitals, warehouses and stores. Since you may experience weak cell reception in these areas, Wi-Fi Calling will allow you to use your phone in a Wi-Fi connected area as if you were still connected to a mobile network.

Thanks BellKris - I understand.. or ?!?

Today, I use a CAN wide plan- and using WiFi calling ok

trying to change my plan into CAN & US .. Bell is remind me that with the new plan, the WIFI calling will be deactivated ;

so, I was expecting for 90% of the time , to still use WiFI calling , and to block me when I try to call an US number ;

so, you see?
It is true that changing to an can-us plan, Wi-Fi calling will not be available at all? Not even for CAN numbers?

That is correct. Wi-Fi calling is only available within Canada on unlimited nationwide plans. Any confusion over charges for calling locations within Canada is eliminated, whether you are calling over Wi-Fi or cellular. . If you change your plan to include US & Canada LD, Wi-Fi calling is not included as part of that plan.

To turn on Wi-Fi calling on an iPhone, you need to open your device. > Select Settings > Select Cellular > Select Wi-Fi Calling > Select Wi-Fi Calling on this iPhone > Toggle the feature from Off > On.

You are now set up for Wi-Fi calling.

I am not sure I understand your question. Are you trying to call from the USA to Canada over Wi-Fi?

Wi-Fi calling is only available within Canada. Wi-Fi calls to locations outside of Canada will incur standard long distance charges. Internet usage consumed by Wi-Fi Calling will be managed by the Internet Service Provider that your phone is connected to.

There is no additional cost for using Wi-Fi Calling on your phone. Your Wi-Fi Calling usage will be included as part of the unlimited nationwide calling on eligible rate plans. Additional charges may apply for Internet usage.

Yes, there is a cost to wifi calling: Bell does not offer it on the prepaid service. Only on a “plan”, which of course costs more.

Calling from Canada to USA via WiFi calling

1. I have the Unlimited Canada and U.S. calling plan, that is to say that I do NOT incur any long distance fees when calling the USA from Canada.

2. I use Wi-Fi calling for most of my calls due to poor cell coverage.

3. When I place a call to the USA while using WiFi calling I always get a prerecorded message from Bell stating that 'standard long distance rates will apply when using WiFi calling'.

Based on this message it is ambiguous as to whether I will be charged long distance. According to my plan I shouldn't be, but according to the WiFi message I will be.

I called Bell and the agent had no idea what I was even talking about as this is an rare edge case

Thoughts?

WIFI calling you need to have a certain level package that does cost extra, without WIFI calling and changing plans it would be 25$ give or take less, just got off the phone with bell,
