I got an email about a phone that I didn't order with a tracking number that's coming to my house in a few days. I'm a little bit freaked out. How should I proceed?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

My first question to you would be: Did you order a phone from Bell Mobility? If not, then do not reply to the email. Do not open any links or attachments!

Your account email account is probably being scammed by a fraudster.

If you received a delivery notification for a product that you didn't order, it is possible that your email address has been added to a scammer list.

Email spoofing is a technique used to forge the sender's address, making it appear as if the email was sent from a different address.

Never share any personal information with anyone you do not know or trust! Do not open web links or messages in emails or text messages!

Here are a few steps you can take if you receive such a notification:

Ignore and delete the notification: If you are certain that you did not order the product, it is best to disregard the notification and delete it. It is likely that the email was sent by someone using this email address as the sender, but it does not necessarily mean that your email account has been compromised.

Check your email account: Log in to your email account and review your sent items or outbox to ensure that no unauthorized emails were sent or received in your account. If you find any suspicious activity, change your password immediately to secure your account.

Update & change your email account password to a strong, unique password.

Change you MyBell account password.

You can also confirm with Bell Mobility Customer Service that there is no pending order.

I recommend that you click "Mark as spam" from webmail (when you log in from http://www.bell.net) this will ensure the team managing Bell email service will be aware of this specific spam campaign, can investigate and block it. You can also send a copy of that email to abuse@bell.ca

Here are some links that will assist you in preparing to combat fraud:

How to identify fraud

What does fraud look like?

Do you suspect fraud?

Update:

I called bell up and went through the menu's finding the right spot was iffy, but they figured it out and put me through to a specialist. I just told them what I told you guys, and they reversed the order/contract.

they told me basic security measures and to contact my bank.

hope that helps anyone who had the same or similar troubles.

Also, apparently abuse@bell.ca isnt the right spot so send these types of problems. That's what they detailed in their reply.
