We have a landline home phone at our cottage. For some time now we have had a buzz on the line which makes it difficult to have a conversation.

We have disconnected all devices connected to phone jacks in the house which is a new build with new wiring as of May 2020.

We have opened the Customer Access portion of the the Bell box attached to the house and plugged our basic rotary dial phone into that jack. The same buzz is there.

What can we do ?

Good Day & Welcome @Luciennet

Thank you for posting your question.

It is somewhat difficult to answer your question without being there to see what needs to be done. An onsite Bell tech is best qualified to answer this question at the time of the changeover from copper to fibre.

For all of the phones to work, the "telephone line" for all of the "phone jacks" must connect to the back of the modem. It is next to impossible to tell you how your existing wiring is running throughout your home.

The phones should be able to stay where they are. The wiring for all of the jacks must be redirected & end up going to the modem, one way or the other!

Where possible, a Bell technician will disconnect your house wiring from the outside copper network and feed the home phone signal from your new Fibe modem directly into your existing in-home telephone jack wiring.

All your wall jacks are usually wired in a loop or daisy-chain, meaning plugging the main feed into the modem makes the rest of the connected jacks' work.

Your existing jacks must loop back to your modem. The technician will establish a demarcation point between your wiring & the telephone port on the back of the modem.

The technician will connect a cable from the demarcation point into the back of your Bell Giga Hub or Home Hub modem.

Your existing wall jacks throughout the house will stay active and will now carry the digital phone signal.

If he cannot connect to your jacks at the demarcation point, it would be your choice, decision & possible expense if you choose to rewire your home.

It may not come to this but that is all I can tell you without seeing this with my own eyes!

Take care.
