Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the "why" remains unanswered. Rogers starts recordings on time, and Bell restarts programs on time. Why does Bell start the recording 1 minute earlier?

Why do all of my PVR recordings always start 1 minute early? When I restart a live program it begins at the start of the show. Why?

When you set up a program to record there are a number of presets that are built in to the software. These include one start time & a number of optional preset stop times . You can choose any of the preset stop times. You can not change a scheduled start unless it is a live program. When you choose to record a live program, you are not setting a start timer. The start time is immediate when you select REC. It’s stop time is the scheduled end of the program selected. When you restart a program it will take you back as well to a start time that is preset to begin prior to the actual program start or you can choose not to restart & watch the program on a a going forward basis from where it is at. You can not restart all channels.

Hopefully I have answered your question and not left you more confused now than before.

Take care.

It's to prevent programs start in adv. You can notice if you frequently watch stuff like short programs on BBC News and pre-recorded programs on CNN International in the afternoon. For BBC News, you won't catch the beginning of these short programs even if you use Restart. BBC News episodes during New Year's Eve and some fox news episodes also start earlier than the schedule. I also remember seeing programs aired on preview channels already in progress when using Restart to watch from the very beginning.
