I can't comment on what other carriers do. Bell is following the CRTC regulations. That's probably not what you want to hear, but it is our reality in Canada.

Hello with Bell I've noticed that USA channels show Canadian Channel for Example. Season 7 of 9 1 1 premiered on ABC Last Thursday and when I tuned to ABC the feed was Global which also showed 9 1 1. ABC had a event on screen where you could interact with the cast of 9 1 1 and I could'nt because of the Global taking over over the broadcast on ABC I've noticed only bell does this. Shaw or eastlink doesn't so this. The same thing happens with The tonight show starring jimmie fallon it airs on NBC but CTV2 takes over the broadcast on NBC.

Global is owned by Corus and last summer Eastlink had a dispute with a number of Corus speciality channels. Implementation of simsub means more revenue for Corus and less for the US local channels.

Thanks for your question. Welcome to simsub or simultaneous substitution. This has been a requirement of the CRTC for all carriers for decades now. It is not what you want, but it is Canada’s broadcast policy in place for many years.

My girlfriend‘s parents have Shaw for satellite and Shaw doesn’t do that. I’ve noticed only Bell does it. Kiko doesn’t do it only one that seems to be doing it as Bell and I said it’s very frustrating when you’re trying to watch something on NBC and CTV 2 has to have the broadcast on the NBC channel.
