Thanks, the links are useful, but don't answer my question. I'm only asking about communication between the Remote and the Fibe TV Box. Can the Fibe TV Box be hidden out of sight in a cabinet, and can the Remote use Bluetooth instead of line of sight infrared (IR)??

I called a Bell store in downtown Toronto, they were unable to answer the question.

I would have ethernet between the Bell modem and the Bell Fibe TV Box - I'm only asking about the Remote. Thanks - but it's astonishing to me that nobody at Bell knows

The new "Fibe TV Box" VIP7802 comes with a new remote called "Voice Remote with Google Assistant".

Does this remote communicate with the Fibe TV Box using Bluetooth (or radio), or, does it have to be in the visible line of sight? I want to put all the TV equipment in a cabinet out of sight. I called Bell but nobody could answer the question.

The previous generation (Bluetooth Slim Remote) would work over Bluetooth, and would operate the 4K receiver through a cabinet door, out of sight. The new remote has no mention of whether it can use Bluetooth, or if it requires line of sight. The VIP7802 specs from Arris shows the Box itself is capable of Bluetooth.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks, but there is not a single reference to Bluetooth in any of the help docs on the Bell support site. In fact, under troubleshooting, it insists to check if the visual line of sight is blocked by any objects. Do you have any documentation or instruction on how to get the Bell Voice Remote to communicate with the Fibe TV Box over Bluetooth? Is it in the onscreen settings?

I even called Bell and spoke to several technicians who all told me it is not Bluetooth capable. Is there a definitive answer somewhere? I'm not ordering this service without understanding if the remote needs to be line of sight or not. Thanks.

Good Day.

May I suggest visiting a Bell Store. You should be able view the VIP7802 in service. If you plan on installing the VIP7802 wireless in a cabinet, you can not block or impede the receiver signal as it must be in communmication with the Bell Home Hub / Giga Hub.

Does you TV support Bluetooth? If so, the VIP7802 will pair with your Smart TV.

Guide-to-your-FIBE-TV-Box.pdf (bell.ca)

Fibe TV Voice Remote: Complete List of How-tos and Tutorials from Bell

Take care.
