Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum. d4

I can not speak for how your TV & receiver is set up now. Did you manually set up your Samsung TV or did you use the internal device manager in settings? There is more than one Bell Fibe setting to choose from when establishing a connection with a Samsung 4K TV for Bell Fibe TV.

This is my set up using an HDMI cable from the VIP5662W to the Samsung 65" 4K Smart TV.

On the remote control Select > Menu > Settings > Audio / Video > TV resolution. Select > 4K UHD. Select continue & follow the on screen prompts. If everyrhing tests okay, then save your change.

My setting on the Bell 4K VIP5662W PVR is constant & does not change & reset itself.

I have 2 other Samsung 4K TVs' that are connected to VIP2502 HD receivers that are not 4K compliant. They do not produce Fibe TV in 4K video. The TV's do produce 4K for other compliant devices connected to HDMI inputs.

My video on the VIP5662W remains set at 4K UHD. It does not reset itself.

Keep in mine, that a 4K TV will only produce video in 4K if the signal it is receiving is 4K & is set up correctly with an HDMI cable.

Have you reviewed your Samsung e-manual or contacted their support for set up & setting instructions?

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Take care.

All channels on my new Samsung TV look way better when Bell's 4k PVR resolution is set to 4K, every time you turn the TV off and back on the PVR resolution drops to 1080 which forces me to manually adjust back to 4K (select Menu , Settings, Resolution and select 4K) , this is quite annoying as it has to be done every time you turn the TV on, I called Bell, they sent a technician who swapped the PVR but the problems continues , called Bell again to be told that the boxes are programmed to default to 1080 resolution , is there an solution and/or logical explanation for this, the boxes should retain the resolution they are set at , this is not right ?

Very interesting. Is the TV receiver connected directly to your Samsung TV, or is there third-party equipment in between the 4K receiver & TV?

Yes, I believe it is connected directly, ( WI FI from Bell hub 3000 to VAP3400 and from VAP3400 high speed HDMI cable to TV) please note that Bell technician told me that Bell 4K PVR are programmed to default to 1080 resolution when turned off and on again, he also said that a lot of people complain about it, I am just repeating what I was told, I am assuming that if this is the case it is a dead end unless firmware can be changed on the PVR

Thank you

I recently upgraded to the 4K whole home. Every time I switch it on, the resolution defaults to SD!
And I need to manually change it back to 4K (highly annoying)

Also, if the TV has been on for a while, the remote freezes - can’t access channels, can’t access the guide, can’t access the PVR. The only thing that works on the remote is the TV volume. (Highly frustrating)

The TV I’m using is a Samsung Q82B

My new Samsung 4K TV is doing this too. My theory is the Samsung Home Screen which displays a preview window of the last app used (HDMI 1 Bell Fibe) is not advertising 4K resolution to the receiver, rather 1080p. Obviously this screen can full well accept the 4K signal but isn’t seen as such so the auto detect resolution is 1080 or even sometimes SD!!
So what I would like to know is can we lock the resolution setting to 4K on the fibe receiver rather than let it identify it on its own?

I just purchased a Samsung QN65QN85AB and my Bell PVR is continually downgrading the resolution to SD 4x3 and HD 1080p. While I can reset to 4K 60fps I getting sick and tired of doing so. Is there anything I can do to rectify the situation, or do I need a new PVR that is capable of keeping this resolution?

Bell is aware of the issue and say they the new firmware will hopefully resolve the issue, but have no time frame when the firmware will be updated….. nice!!
so I’m gonna go back to the HD PVR and hopefully that will hold HD resolution

So the Bell 4K receiver isn’t shipped with a 4K optimized HDMI cable? That’s laughable but not all that surprising I guess.

my theory is the Samsung home app on power up is sending a false reading to the auto detection of the receiver. I set the tv to resume on the last input setting rather than the Home Screen with the little preview box.

so far it’s been more reliable but will often reset to 1080p.

I have a Samsung QN88B. My bell 4K receiver also does not retain the 4K resolution in settings and has to be forced into 4K each time the tv is turned on again. I have swapped a few receivers since the beginning of January and they all do the same. I subscribe to premium Netflix and I no longer get the 4K picture quality since the beginning of January. I have been told by a Bell manager something about the latest software of the tv may have a glitch but I have been forcing 4K on my receiver in settings since I got the tv in November. Samsung has told me the problem is with my service provider. It seems the two are blaming each other.

Yes I replaced the bell cable with a Rocket Fish 4K HDMI cable in December but I still have to change the resolution to 4K UHD from either 1080p or SD each time I turn on the tv. I’m beginning to think maybe my issue has more to do with the internet signal itself. I keep checking my speed and it’s always very high. Maybe there is some unknown interference in the bell line that is downgrading the picture quality. I hope Bell is working on trying to resolve this.
