topic Can Recordings Be Removed From a Damaged 9400 Hard Drive? in TV & Streaming

Hi, hoping this hasn't been asked. I had a power outage in my area last night that has apparently damaged the hard drive on my 9400 receiver. I spoke with bell, and they tell me the receiver has to be replaced. As the Pvr is no longer accessible, Is there any way to get the recordings onto an external drive before I have to send the damaged unit back? I did have an external drive attached already, but I can't access it due to the error message. Would a computer tech be able to transfer the recordings somehow ? Hate to lose all of the content I've saved. Any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

If the hard drive is damaged, there is little any of us can do to assist in this repair. I wish there was something I could suggest, but there is not. Depending on the degree of damage, a hard drive can often be repaired, but it's crucial to understand that a repaired hard drive should not be reused. In many cases, it is not recoverable an / or the data that is recovered is of little value to you.

Bits & pieces of recovered video & audio will not satisfy your loss & will not restore the recordings to their original quality.

Hard drives are generally not repaired...... they are junked!

Sorry... not the answer you want to hear, but it is what it is & there is little that can be done to recover your recordings.

Take care.

Thank you for reply. Unfortunately, that's the answer I anticipated. I'm kicking myself for not backing up my receiver's recordings. Appreciate the reply.
