    <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for your research. Yes, alternate audio systems work just fine. You can also try replacing the HDMI cable, making sure the correct HDMI port on your set is used. Avoid cheap HDMI cables from dollar stores. I have found better quality cables available on Amazon that are not too expensive.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>9241 satellite reciever no HDMI sound - FIXED</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;This 9241 has been with me a long time, no external card, it relies on updates via internal smart card.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I went on holiday for 4 months and turned off TV sub, therefore no updates I presume.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;When&amp;nbsp; I reactivated,&amp;nbsp; I assume&amp;nbsp; I missed several concurrent updates and HDMI cable now delivered visual only and no sound.&amp;nbsp; We did everything with&amp;nbsp; Bell for over an hour and they declared the reciever unfixable as it is impossible to backtrack and run all the updates sequentially.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;I decided to test the&amp;nbsp; sound from the alternate plug system.&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;That is the ONLY FIX !!.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I now have to run both plug style sound and HDMI cable.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;At least you don't have to junk the reciever.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Good Luck!&lt;/P&gt;</description>
