Thank you for this, but I cannot believe Bell's technical people are not smart enough to figure out a way to let people extend recordings for three hours (like Cogeco) or to manage their own disk space (like Cogeco).

Good Day & Welcome.

Fibe TV has evolved to a cloud-based storage system for all your recordings. It lets you store up to 320 hours of recordings, regardless of resolution, for up to 60 days. Cloud PVR is a virtual addition to your physical Fibe TV receiver.

To keep recordings longer, you generally cannot extend the 60-day cloud limit; instead, you must watch recordings within that window. You’ll get a reminder 15 days before a recording expires.

Once you reach 320 hours, your recordings will start to be deleted, beginning with the oldest.

If you have any other Bell PVR box, your recordings storage remain unchanged.

For the Fibe TV app specifically, recording retention on the app has remained unchanged at 60 days and is unrelated to the set top box you have.

Take care.

This is why I am not moving to Fibe casue you can not buy older Fibe box or example Telus tv optick box that has a hard drive they are not going to let you use a older box with hard drive in it .

Everything is in the cloud . And why people are going to the sat. You can only record two shows at a time . But you keep your shows until you delete it . But was reading sat is dying . But there sat in sky was reading is good till 2029. Asked question will you ever shut it down and the answer I got was we’re committed to keeping it service . But have read they are making it hard to get it . But I see they are still advertising . So I also talked to a rep and she said a lot of people are going to sat from Fibe casue of 60 day thing . I say something casue I have had optick tv like Fibe and was not happy and used the sat from Telus tv was rebranded but using bells sat .

And good question people are not happy about this delete this . Can’t save movies in cloud .

Thank you for sharing your thoughts & perspective on the Cloud PVR vs. Satellite TV.

Bell Fibe TV has evolved from traditional set-top box hardware to a cloud-based, app-driven streaming service, heavily focused with Cloud PVR storage.

TV viewing & technology are continually changing. I can only suggest to you that you stay tuned.

"Yesterday, today was tomorrow, and tomorrow, today will be yesterday."

We appreciate your feedback.

Take care.

I'm just wondering if there could be another option that makes sense for both Bell and the users who are not happy with the current 60 day limit. For example, the 320 hour limit is not really usable with a 60 day limit - you would have to be recording and watching over 5 hours per day. So one option might be 120 day limit but with a reduced 160 hour total limit. Another option might be to charge more for a 120 day limit.

Hi.. if Bell is moving to an app only model then I think everything should be available on demand as a file on a server .. ..of course they would have to honour all rights of broadcasters/creators who do not support on demand. Maybe Bell can add an option for when you go to record a program..they can advise you "this program will be on Demand in 24 hours ..do you still want to record". That way you would NOT record the program and the 320 hours could be reserved for live events or shows that don't allow on demand. Or Bell can match You Tube TV which has UNLIMITED DVR space and recordings are stored for 9 MONTHS...and that solves the problem..

I understand the need for Bell to clean up space, but why not trust the user to do this? We delete recordings all the time, but there are a few we'd like to keep, favourite movies in the Christmas season, for example. A super recent series on the Count of Monte Cristo is another. It was heart breaking to see the service take this away from us.

Cogeco lets you keep recordings forever. Most of what people are saying here sounds like "That's the way it is," with nothing close to an explanation. Bell could certainly let us keep shows longer than 60 days, with the caveat that the total cloud storage for each user is set. A completely sensible idea I'd be happy with.

Hello @Edgar73 the Bell Community is a place for you to ask questions, find answers and share your thoughts on all of our products and services with other Bell customers like you.
With Bell Fibe TV Cloud PVR you get:

Multi-Screen & On-the-Go Viewing: Older hard drive centric PVR equipment limit your recordings and setting your recordings to the physical hard drive on your main receiver – save for the specific ‘Whole Home PVR’ setup. As Bell Fibe TV recordings now live in the cloud, customers can access, schedule, and watch their recorded programs across smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, laptops, or other VIP7802 TV receivers by using the Fibe TV App. Your TV and recordings wherever, even on the go!

No hardware failures and subsequent loss of recordings: Physical hard drives can overheat, degrade, and fail given enough time. If a traditional hard drive receiver failed, a customer lost all their saved content…forever. With Bell Fibe TV Cloud PVR, if your physical VIP7802 receiver fails, the recordings remain safe in the cloud for the full 60 days and are instantly accessible on a replacement box and any tablet or phone with the Fibe TV App.

Thank you for this, but I cannot believe Bell's technical people are not smart enough to figure out a way to let people extend recordings for three hours (like Cogeco) or to manage their own disk space (like Cogeco).

All Good Points. Speaking for ourselves, we are very happy with the service and are not considering going elsewhere. We really like the convenience of multiple devices. In fact, when staying at a hotel or vacation rental we just plug a Firestick into the TV, launch the Fibe app, and everything is there as if we were at home. No more dealing with the basic hotel TV service.

However, at the time we switched to the new platform there was no 60 day limit or any mention that this might change.

We habitually record the whole season of a show so that we can watch one episode each night without waiting a week or more for the next one to show up. We have been doing this for years and that is the way we like it.

The issue now is that a full season usually takes more than 60 days to fully air. In the meantime, we have to keep checking for recorded episodes that might be reaching the 60 day limit and watching them before the full season airs. It is just a real pain. Very inconvenient and not in line with our viewing preferences. It gives the service an inflexible feel.

We do know quite a few people who do the same thing, are mildly miffed, but prefer to grumble to themselves about it.

An option for a 120 day limit would eliminate the issue for us and we would be happy to pay more for this. Alternatively, a package with 120 days but less hours of storage, so that Bell’s storage cost is a wash, i.e., 120 days with 160 hour storage limit. Double the days and half the storage hour limit.

If possible, I would like to hear some kind of response from Bell in terms of whether they plan to at least consider this or not.

Good Day & Welcome @SkiPro

Thank you for your input and feedback. All of your suggestions are definitely worth consideration. You certainly have taken the time to provide a number of scenarios.

The Bell developmental team continually monitors this website looking at ways, means & alternatives to improve your viewing experience.

Bell is open to ideas such as this. Whether they are even feasible is something that cannot be answered on this website.

Take care.
