Unable to log into Sportsnet on my AppleTV - Sportsnet crashes and will not open

I am having issues logging into Sportsnet on my AppleTV. I have updated to the latest TVos. I have done the delete the app and install again multiple times but it does not work. I am able to load the login page on my iPhone and enter my credentials correctly but Sportsnet then crashes and I cannot open it.
I am able to get Sportsnet to work on my phone, browser, etc.

The community is here to help as best as we can.

Please clarify which model of Apple TV you have, and what Firmware version it is running. Are you logging in directly with a Sportsnet+ account, and when the app crashes is there an error message, or does it just close on its own?

When you log in we recommend that you avoid using the autofill password option. Please follow these steps in order, and then let us know if you are still having trouble.

Delete the Sportsnet app
Restart your Apple TV completely.
Reinstall Sportsnet and then manually type your username and password directly on the TV screen.

Thanks. I tried the steps outlined and Sportsnet still crashes.
I have the 4K AppleTV running tvOS 26.6, which is the latest version.

Can you also clarify if you log in directly with a Sportsnet+ account or if your subscription is through Bell? Also, what exactly happens when the app crashes? Is there an error message, or does it simply close on its own?

I am having the exact same issue. started yesterday. The app will immediately crash back to the home screen once I have entered my bell credentials. The app on the apple tv works fine before you enter credentials. I have also added credentials from a sportsnet subscription and it works fine so there is some issue between BELL/SPortsnet app with authentication. I have reset my entire appleTV, cleared cache, history, credentials , changed wifi , power sources . Everything.

If the app continues to crash on your Apple TV after trying the troubleshooting above we recommend that you provide feedback directly to Rogers via social media ( Xor Facebook) so they can further investigate and resolve any issues.

this definitely does not work. I’ve done it a ton of times. It’s an authentication issue between bell and sportsnet. I’m guessing cause the app is created by rogers media. Rogers and bell need to figure out a solution

It’s a straight crash , with no spinner. It’s an authentication issues. Most likely with the token handshake. I’ve tried with Roger’s and a sportsnet login and they both work. It’s a bell / Roger’s issue.

@BellPatricia - I put a ticket in with Sportsnet and they told me it was a Bell issue. As you can imagine it’s quite frustrating that no one is able to assist. Any further suggestions?

Ask them to roll back whatever update they did or re-sync bell accounts. They should be looking into the change from a few nights ago. They most likely did an upgrade to the app that is causing this issue.

I am having the exact same issue. It started about a week ago. I explained to them I was not having an issue with the subscription but with the Sporstent app. Your advice to contact Sportsnet falls on deaf ears. I contacted Sportsnet and this is what they said to me:

23:58:17) Stephen S: Since your subscription is through a TV provider you have to contact your TV provider if you are unable to access your account/subscription on app or the website.
(00:00:03) Stephen S: Please contact your TV provider bell and they will be happy to help you.
(00:00:56) Stephen S: Thank you for contacting Sportsnet+. Good Day ahead.

When I create a Sportsnet+ account the app works fine. As soon as I try to log in with the TV provider that's when the app crashes. There is no error message. The app just will not launch. It appears to try to launch but glitches and just stays the same. I can log in on my phone and my laptop to watch sports. It appears the problem is when you try to log in through your Bell account. I have tried manually logging in as was suggested. Nothing works. Of interest, I have a second Apple TV in my basement and it seems to work fine.

Doesn’t sound like there is going to be a fix. None of these corps are going to take ownership so therefore they will pass the buck for as long as it takes. The best you can hope for is for an update to happen or enough people complain on social media or just cancel your subscriptions. Good luck

I’m having the exact issue. Have tried multiple reinstalls, even factory reset my Apple TV. Still crashes immediately. I doubt it’s a Bell issue because I don’t think an authentication error would crash the app.

My workaround is to AirPlay from my phone. Annoying but gets the job done.

I am having the exact same issue. Been happening for about a month. AppleTV model A1852 64GB model. tvOS 26.6. Running at 2160p UHD 60Hz yCbCr 4:4:4. Have reinstalled the Sportsnet app multiple times. Today just did a full reset and reinstall of TVos. Can start the Sportsnet App in authenticated then after authenticating to my Sportsnet account with bell the app immediately crashes to the desktop and won’t start again.

same here......this app hasnt work for me for a few months now.....deleted reset re-logged....CRASH....Bell can you please fix this issue this is ridiculous.....i too will cancel my bell subscription if this isn't fixed by NHL season start SO FRUSTRATING.....contacted both bell and rogers/sportsnet and both point at the other.....common now, take care of your customers for ONCE bell!!!

I have been working with sportsnet support for a few weeks now (Incident : 1782*****) and they are doing nothing other than saying “ it’s fixed” and please reset. Every single time ! I have over 50 emails now back and forth providing every single detail. This is pretty silly considering it’s obviously a bell / rogers / sportsnet issue. Rogers and sportsnet are not allowing bell users to access the app right now. We need someone who understands security certificates , signing keys or encryption settings to look into the changes that happened either the app side or bell. Authentication handoff does not seem to succeed at this time causing immediate crash , caused by application bug on the integration path. There should be a 1:1 call to test. I’ll be cancelling all my services and moving to Rogers which is probably what they want anyways if this is not fixed by the time by monthly bill refreshes. Sorry Bell I’ve now paid for a service for 3 months I have been unable to use.
