Bell just switched out the old copper wire to the Fibe wire
my security system does not connect with the central monitoring anymore
the security rep said bell May have switched the service to VOIP which means the security system will not connect and he would have to switch to a cellular system (costs of course)
anyone else have this issue or can confirm?

No major work inside the house, other than installing a connection to the external Fibe line, a modem and then connecting to power. Internal phone lines stay the same.

Thanks Viv. Bell guy would not (or could not) tell me anything about the actual installation. Does the new modem have to be at the access point? I am concerned about coverage if it is in the basement where the existing lines come in. My current 3000 sits on the second floor landing pointing down stairs towards the kitchen and living room and gives more than adequate signal strength for my 25mb DSL service.

Hi!
You might want to get the modem installed and see how things work. If it's a replacement to an existing set-up, I can't see that coverage would be a problem. The telephone lines will definitely work, but the wi-fi could need a boost. Perhaps a hub in another location might be needed. Check with Bell about options and support.

So I recently had bell gigafibe installed with no issues until an issue with my alarm which still uses copper to communicate. The central office says it works fine until the router is either rebooted or if there is a power outage which will result in a trouble signal on the panel. Is there a way the alarm can get a dedicated signal so that this doesn’t happen? I don’t want to use a uninterrupted power supply.
