Why a device may not always connect to the closest pod
You might notice in the Bell Wi-Fi App
that devices which are physically closer to a Wi-Fi Pod might connect to the modem or to a different pod. When first connecting to the network, many devices will connect to the closest pod at first. After connecting, there are two factors that determine which pod/modem a device will connect to:
Bell Software: The decision of where to steer a device is based on the speed of the connection. Bell software checks the entire path the data travels when choosing a device-to-pod connection. The closest pod will not always be the fastest connection. Bell software also takes into account the number of devices and how much bandwidth is being used on each pod. If too many devices or too much bandwidth is being used on a pod, a device may be steered to another connection.
The Device: Some devices are designed to hold on to a Wi-Fi connection while other devices are designed to roam between pods. For devices that do roam between pods, turning the Wi-Fi off and on may connect the device to the nearest pod until it is steered by the cloud.
Adding a Pod
1. Go to Menu & Settings and scroll to Access Points
2. Touch Add a pod.
- You will see the option to touch All done when all pods have been activated.
3. Follow the instructions on-screen
Locate and Name Your Pod(s)
1. Go to Menu & Settings and scroll to Access Points
2. Touch the pod you are inquiring about
3. Touch the three dots in the top right corner of the screen
4. Touch Locate and name pod or Rename access point
5. Follow the on-screen prompts to label your pod(s).
Tip: Keep your mobile device near your pods as you plug them in. The Bell Wi-Fi app will confirm when they are connected.
Deleting and Reconnecting Pods
If your pod is not connecting or functioning properly, you may need to reconnect it. This is how to delete and reconnect the pod to your network:
1. Open the Bell Wi-Fi app
and log in with your MyBell username and password.

2. Go to Menu & Settings and scroll to Access Points. Touch the pod you would like to delete and reconnect.
3. Touch the three dots on the top right corner of the screen and select Delete access point.
4. To reconnect the pod, keep the pod plugged into a power outlet. Go to Menu & Settings and scroll to Access Points. Touch Add a pod.
5. Wait for the pod to connect to your network again. This should bring the pod back online. If the pod does not connect, touch the floating Contact Support button.
