Your Internet connection is a key part of your online gaming setup and there’s nothing worse than your Wi-Fi lagging at a critical moment.
If you think your Internet speed is letting you down, go to bell.ca/speedtest
on your gaming console and run the speed test. You can expect consoles like Xbox or Playstation to get maximum speeds ranging from 75 Mbps to 150 Mbps.
Remember, you need an Internet package that offers those speeds to begin with – to get 100 Mbps, you need an Internet package of at least 100 Mbps.
Is your speed not in the range? Try these fixes:
- Check for software updates for your console.
- Close any apps or games you’re not using, so they don’t hog your speed.
- Consider using an Ethernet connection to your modem, if possible. A wired connection is best for online gaming and helps reduce lag and latency.
- If you can’t use a wired connection, think about extending your Wi-Fi range with a mesh system or Bell Wi-Fi pods.
- Keep in mind that some gaming networks may limit their speeds when there are a lot of people playing.

You can expect consoles like Xbox or Playstation to get maximum speeds ranging from 75 Mbps to 150 Mbps. That is wrong and outdated. There was a time when my Xbox One X reached a speed of 1.1Gbps, through a wired connection. even though it happened just once. Most of the time, it reaches 960 Mbps. My experience with past providers has shown me that Rogers has better speed stability than Bell, which keeps fluctuating frequently and drops considerably. This is the reason I am visiting the community posts to find out why Bell's internet is not as fast as advertised. I am signed up for the 3.0 Gbps plan Bells offers and quite frankly I am totally disappointed. The maximum speed on my game console is 760 Mbps, not even half what I pay for. For example, my game laptop doesn't get more than 1.3 Gbps (wired), that happened just once when the Bell technician was in my home. Their advertising is totally misleading.

@Morato Welcome to the Community!
It sounds like you may be experiencing a technical issue. Check out the thread Download speed drops
and we'll have a look to confirm.
Thanks!

The Xbox Series X and Playstations only have 1 gigabit ethernet ports so you will not get faster than that and for gigabit it's usually 940/940 max however it sometimes can go a bit higher, somewhat more so with a 2.5GB ethernet card/adapter. There is only 1 10gigabit port on the gigahub and home hub 4000. It's the fault of your Xbox X series and Playstation for not getting 3 gigabit speeds, you would need to get a 2.5 gigabit USB 3.0 A Male to type C Female converter and I used the UGREEN Product as well for this for my devices without type C support.
you would need one of those adapters if those works on the Xbox X and Playstation to get those kinda speeds (You may have to search for which ones may possibly work, I have read some with the RTL8156B may work which is the buggy version.)
Also if you want those speeds across multiple devices you would need to connect a 2.5 gigabit switch or higher to the gigahub/home hub 4000 10 gig port and plug your devices into the switch.
I used a external UGREEN 2.5GB type C adapter for my laptop, Samsung Galaxy S9+ Tablet, Samsung S21 FE phone, Gaming computer for an extra 2.5GB port for other reasons. However I do not know if something like this model would work on an Xbox or PS, however there may be others compatible for this purpose. I use the one with the RTL8156BG (Realtek Gaming) chip as I find it has less problems than the older version (RTL8156B) and I get around 2,400ish down and 2100ish up on the 3 gigabit connection which is more than enough for my needs and it was cheap around $39.99 off amazon which I was very impressed with compared to others especially for the price.
UGREEN 2.5GB USB type C to Ethernet Adapter off Amazon with RTL8156BG chipset.
I think bell had some well documented requirements somewhere for getting 3 gigabit internet and how it will not support most devices and I think the minimum requirement they told me was a Ryzen 7, NVME SSD, 32GB or 16GB ram,and a 5 gigabit ethernet port and cat 6 cables. I used 2.5GB as it's cheaper and close enough to 3 gigabit as we're not going to get 3 gigabit from every website, gaming sites anyway.
Hope some of this information helps others.
