Bypass Parental Control

is there anyway you can bypass the parental block control?

My son loves playing video games. I know  It is winter break but I don’t want him to stay up the whole night.  I blocked his computer from the internet from 1:30Am to 6am. His computer is connected to Hub 4000.

I found that even when I blocked his computer internet access from my Bell wifi app, he seemed still having the access…is that possible?

Thank you!

HI @naela

I'm surprised to read this, as the HH4K will show every device connected to it, including its IP and MAC addresses.

Are you certain there's a hidden device? If so, you could brute-force disconnect all devices by resetting the Wi-Fi SSID password, and rebooting the modem.

If there are devices you don't recognize there are methods to block their access. I mentioned one in this thread.

I've set parental access limits via the app, but they simply create new device ids to gain access again. No where can I find in the App user guides where it says how you can remove devices completely.

You have to remove the Wifi password from the device. That way it will be completely removed and will not have wifi access anymore.

I have been using the Internet Freeze for a couple of months to restrict and monitor my thirteen year old's usage.  Recently it has not been working.  It shows scheduled and frozen on the app but the devices are still connected to the internet.  Any ideas??

Hi there @Bunny243
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Are you able to share which modem you have?
Are you able to share how you are accessing the controls to freeze the device?
We'd recommend trying to delete the schedule for the device and re-make it to see if that helps.
Looking forward to hearing back.

I have created three user profiles in addition to the default home profile; hence there are a total of four profiles (home, me, older child and younger child). When I freeze the internet for both kids using the bell wifi app, it only seems to freeze the internet for the older child, and not the younger child.  There is nothing that I can do to freeze the internet for my younger child. Please HELP…!

Hey there @Brampton_Resident,

Welcome to the Bell Community, and thank you for reaching out.

What type of device are they using, and is it connected via Wi-Fi, or Ethernet?

When you set up a freeze schedule in the Bell Wi-Fi app does it appear to work, or do you notice anything different compared to when you successfully freeze the internet for your older child? Can you also try deleting the freeze schedule for that device, and then set it back up and test again?

Hello. As part of parental controls to prevent a family member who knows how to Mac spoof the address on their desktop, I have turned on the Mac filtering option and added all the devices that I want to be on my network. This computer has recently spoofed the address and does not even show up on my network because of that. I suppose it is somehow hidden?  So it is not added obviously to the list of approved devices. However this computer still has access to the Wi-Fi internet. I'm not sure why the Mac filtering has not prevented it from connecting to my network as regardless of the MAC address it's not listed as an approved device. Can anyone help with this? Thanks so much

The kids know how to get their iPhones to show them what the Wi-Fi password is . Then they just override these settings . Joe can it be teen proofed ?

Perhaps he is using the phone data or  hot spot.

Somehow, when I freeze my teens wi-fi device on the network, they’re able to get back on. A “new” device will be shown.
Is there a way to ‘approve’ all new devices coming onto my wi-fi network?
Help!

Good Day.

Yes.... please have a look at the following

Have you given your teenagers access to your account to download the Wi-Fi app on to one of their devices? Are your sharing apps between family members? E.g. Family sharing? Is the Wi-Fi app installed on their devices? Have you provided them with the password to your Wi-Fi network? Can your teens access your modem? Do they have access to your MyBell account? Login & Password? Do they have access to your personal devices? Are they using Airdrop to share passwords?

If you are wishing to regain control of your network, you can start by changing all of your passwords. You can restrict access to your modem & MyBell account. Do you share apps? Remove the Wi-Fi app from their devices. Change your family sharing settings. You can setup a separate Guest Wi-Fi network for your teens on your modem that you can easily turn on / off.

Take care & Good Luck!

I am finding that restrictions that I put on my son’s devices (freeze schedules) via the Bell WIFI app are disappearing. I am curious if he has found a way to get in and remove them but I can’t imagine how? Even if he has the app he doesn’t know my password. How else could this be happening?

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Is the Wi-Fi app up to date? Have you setup family app sharing between these devices? Password sharing? Does he have access to your modem?

As a starting point, change your Wi-Fi password & remove the app from your son's device.

Can you clarify if this is affecting the freeze schedules on only this one device? What type of device is it? Are you using any third-party equipment in your set up like a router? Access point? Switch? Ethernet connection?

It is also important to ensure that you are selecting the save option after you have scheduled the internet freeze in order to ensure the changes take effect.

If you continue to have trouble, try performing a factory reset of your modem: Home Hub 4000/Giga Hub modem to factory settings

Let us know how everything goes.

Take care.

Hi, problem solved, he came clean, his friend has the app and is logging in using an old password of mine and removing the freezes. I have changed the bell password from the one he knows, how is this then possible please? What do I do now?

Thanks
Steve
