How do I get Bell to clean this fallen cable up?

We recently bought a house. Across the back of the property, along the ground, near a fence is a wire marked "Bell". It could easily be cut by our lawn mower, or weed trimmer or any other accident. I can't imagine that it is normal to have a Bell line just running along the ground surface. Likely it was supposed to be buried at some point but it got missed (at another property we had a Fibe line along the ground for a while until they came back to bury it).

What department do I call  to have this addressed?

Thank you for posting your question.

Have you reached contacted Bell Customer Service & explained your issue to them in detail? If not, then please call Bell Repair service & explain that the temporary repair or fibre cable is laying exposed on the ground & needs to be properly buried before it is damaged. The representative should provide you with an approximate date for this work to be completed. Request a trouble ticket referral number for future reference.

Ask them to send out a technician to verify if it is a working service or an abandoned wire that was laying there unnoticed & just needs to be removed.

Bell Wire & Cable Repair - Please call: 611 or 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device.

Take care.

Hello, new to this, about 1 yr ago we finally had Fibre connection to our home. Hugh ordeal. So a temp line was hung onto Hydro 1 poles. After atleast 6 Bell technicians and 3 pairs of Ledcor technicians my line is half buried. I put conduit on my property and the rest into a culvert and torpedo under neighbour's  driveway

I'm sure there's a joke in there.

How many ______ to bury a wire. 😄

So I ask is it a no no to hang wire on Hydro 1 poles?  And now what?

Another call has been placed to the dig dig department of bell and now a 7th bell technician is coming out to open a new work order. Stay tuned.👍👍👍👍

Thank you for your question. In some areas, Bell fibre is run pole to pole, or as an aerial run. Definitely not a no no. The only caution I see is that Bell would likely have to have a neighbour's consent to run fibre under their driveway. If Bell ran the fibre, then they have consent. If you did it, they could have an issue.

I have a bell line (several coiled together) that has fallen in our rear lane (Peyton Lane  - Toronto). 310 Bell couldn’t help unless I could confirm it is a Bell line (I’m 99% certain) I’ve been going in circles and have now given up. Disappointed.

It's a good safety measure to never touch any downed lines, even if they look to be without power.

If they fell down from a utility pole contact your local PUC.

My Neighbors tree has fallen on a large bell line. The tree is 70 ft tall and has been held by the Bell line for 7 days+.

my neighbor says they need permission from Bell to cut the tree. Is this correct?

And if it is correct - how long does it take to get permission?

it is hanging over 3 yards, backyard sheds, children’s swing sets etc. Everyone wants it cut asap as it’s dangerous.

Call 611 and tell them about the hazard. Or call your municipality and tell them of the danger. The property owner should also check with their insurer. Tree removal is not a job for a couple of backyard guys and a chain saw.

This can become a very serious unstable safety issue if this condition is left as is. This requires immediate attention & cannot be left as is.

Has a tree removal company been contacted by the property owner to assess the situation? Has anyone called the municipality to report this issue?

You mentioned that the fallen tree is now being supported by a Bell cable & that your neighbour is awaiting Bell authorization to remove the tree. Has your neighbour contacted Bell directly & explained the severity of this situation?

Please call & explain the situation. If the issue is as serious as you are suggesting, please request someone to come out & visually inspect the problem.

If you are still not satisfied by all means, ask to speak to the manager.

If you are still not satisfied with the response you are receiving, you can elevate the issue to a member of the Bell Management Team. How to resolve your concern (bell.ca)
