Devices changing router settings automatically.

I have been under a cyber attack since the day I got my service from bell. The installation technician had trouble finding my phone lines because they all go through my neighbours apartment. He told me that my internet was connected and that I could hook up my router I received at my doorstep days before. After seeing an ipv6 it lead me to finding out my internet traffic was all being routed around without my knowledge. I got a new router same thing though so I tried going without wifi and removed my antenna but found that my signal was just as strong as it ever was. I also discovered that the home hub 3000 that was at my doorstep had different boards than the second one that came in the mail. I also ordered 3 pods and received three delivered to my door and three delivered in my mail. The ones in the mail had much more quality it the boxes they came in. I’m about to try my third router I got from you and this one didn’t even come in a bell box it was wrapped in shrink wrap so I might just take a peek inside first to see if there’s yet a third configuration hidden within this home hub 3000 and hopefully it’ll show up as a home hub 3000 and not just my main pod. I keep getting calls from bell asking if I removed a security feature from my network and I keep telling them no. They tell me that it’s against their terms of use and how someone is using my ip address to make accounts and gaining access to my personal information. I tell them yes noises in my second floor lead me to find where my phone lines enter my neighbours apartment and that they are a registered network on the device that they were using as a gateway. Now I see they’re involved with Jordan’s principle a funding program run out of our band office and I’m pretty sure they are using the information obtained for identity theft. So how do I set up this DNS thing and make sure that nothing is being ported where it shouldn’t?

Hi there @Yuck
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
If you are worried that your devices are not secure / someone is accessing your WiFi, we would suggest a couple things:

  • We would first recommend to download the McAfee securityOpens in a new tab or windowas it's included for free through your Bell internet subscription.
  • We would also recommend that you change your SSID and password through your Modem GUIOpens in a new tab or window. Additional to this, you can also view all devices connected to your network and remove them if you do not recognize them.
  • As for the excess equipment you have received, we'd recommend sending back all unused equipment which can be done from our websiteOpens in a new tab or window.

Hope this helps and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Community.
