Error setting up email: the IMAP server doesn't support Password authentication

Bell email was successfully installed and running properly on my ipads; one a regular ipad and the other a new ipad pro. I also have Bell email set up and running on my iphone. Everything was working properly until I tried to change my email password on the devices. The password change worked on my iPhone but not on my two iPads. I have tried deleting the accounts and adding them again but I always get the error that "the IMAP server "imap.bell.net" doesn't support Password authentication". I try adding the account manually with no success. Very frustrating to have things work correctly one minute but not the next. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey there @Trying Hard

Thank you for reaching out and for the troubleshooting you have tried so far.

Are you using an email client to access your Bell email on any other devices?

Please reset your password, and be sure to update it on any devices where it is already saved. Then delete the email from your iPhone and set everything back up from scratch.

Keep us posted and let us know if everything is working afterwards.

@BellPatricia

The only other device I use to access Bell email is my laptop for which I use the browser based login. There's no other place to reset. I have deleted and reset up 10 times. Still nothing is working. I receive the same message: The IMAP server "imap.bell.net" doesn't support Password authentication

Hi, @BellPatricia, I'm still unable to access my email. Might there be new problems with the changes to MFA, which happened as I swapped phones. My old phone was working fine with the same settings--Telus says this is a Bell issue. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Good day @Trying Hard

Thank you for your reply 🙂

If you are still having trouble we recommend setting up your Bell email in a different email client. Some members mention that they prefer to use Outlook.

You can also access Bell webmail in a web browser to view your emails in the meantime.

Please let us know if you have any more questions.
