Is it OK to change HomeHub2000 Internet password ?

Hi,

With my previous Internet provider (Start Communication), there is no login to connect to Internet. My modem (bare cable modem without router function) is authenticated at the ISP side via its MAC address.

Now I am using Fiber50 with a Bell HomeHub2000 router. There is authentication info as shown in the screenshot below. This is the password of the Bell account to connect to Internet. Not the one to login into the Admin UI of the HH2000.

Q1: is it OK to change the password?

Q2: Let's assume that it is possible. If I change the password, and I reset the HH2000, would it keep the new password set in Q1?

Hi @Tritabaga

Bell authenticates the Home Hubs by MAC address, to deny access to the internet by non-Bell gateway devices. They also add a user-level layer of authentication: your Bell credentials. The combo of the account user ID (b1xxxxxxxx) and password.

Q1: Yes.

Q2: If you change the password and then reboot the router, then the new password should be retained. If you change the password and then reset the router to factory settings, I doubt if your new password will be retained.

For added reassurance, you could also call Bell. 1-844-310-7873
