I recently upgraded to a BrosTrend 5Gb PCIe Network Card and a 3-gigabit internet plan. However, I'm encountering an issue where my computer fails to connect to the internet when the network card's speed & duplex setting is on 5 Gbps Full Duplex. It works fine on 2.5 Gbps Full Duplex. I've ensured the network card has the latest drivers installed, and it's connected using a CAT 7 cable to a 10-gigabit port on my Gigahub. Is there a possible fix for this?

I recently got a new motherboard with 5Gbe Realtek RTL8126 internet however the ethernet will not connect at all if I plug it into the 10G port, the only way it will connect is if I go into windows settings and change the speed & duplex to 2.5G. I have the latest drivers and I don't think there are any problems with the modem or the RTL8126, maybe it's a firmware issue?
Update: it seems i am not the only one with this problem I found a thread on reddit where other people are also having the same problem

Not all 10 Gbps ports can sync at 1/2.5/5/10. It depends on the chipset what they can sink at.
You can go into the modem GUI and manually select the sync speed of the port, and see if it supports 5 Gbps. It could also be an ethernet cable problem.

Not all chipsets can link at 5Gbps. It could also be a firmware bug with the home hub if it worked previously.
You can also try selecting the speed in the home hub, but I don't know if 5 Gbps is selectable or not.

I have the modem port set to 10 gigabit and I don’t think the cable is the issue in my case since it works perfectly fine for 2.5 gigabit speeds and below that.

If you force the modem at 10 Gbps it will only be able to link at 10 Gbps, which is not supported by your 5 Gbps card.
Both would have to match, so you would need to set the modem at 5 Gbps.

I still get no network connection after setting the modem and network card speed specifically to 5.0 Gbps Full Duplex.

If you open up a command prompt and type in ipconfig what is the output showing for the adaptor?

That is odd. What is the output when it links at 2.5 Gbps?

It doesn't show the output of the card for 2.5 either. Currently, I am using Windows 10.

That is really odd. And it is working at 2.5 Gbps, correct?

Yes, it works fine at 2.5 Gbps.
From searching on websites like Reddit, the problem may be with the Modem's firmware.

More that it is the network card firmware. This is an issue with some 5Gb network cards.

The issue still occurred when I tried using the drivers from both Realtek and BrosTrend.
