MBP 14" M2 Pro 2023 - Wifi Problems on 6E [Toronto/Canada region]

I bought the new MacBook Pro M2 Pro released on Jan 24th.

I have followed the instructions on https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT213433 including the usual resetting turn on off the router and computer. Regardless of separate SSID for 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz and 6Ghz or a combined automatic one, the 6E network does not actually show up on my new MacBook Pro.

Do I need to change some setting or does Bell need to activate Wifi 6E manually from their side etc?

Screenshot of my Mac 6Ghz support and the config screen of Bell Wifi is shown (note I have also tried common SSID, auto channel/bandwidth, and different security modes)

To make your Mac mini 2023 connect to wifi 6e you need to install OS Sonoma Beta from Apple. I posted the instructions on this forum previously. My MacBook Pro 2023 now connects to Wifi 6e on the 6.0GHz. If you prefer you can wait for Mac OS Sonoma to be released officially around September.

Thanks everyone!  I'm glad to know that it's an OS issue.  I will happily wait until September for Sonoma to launch and I'll let you all know how I make out.

Thanks again!

I had the same problem. The problem is with Apple OS Ventura. As I said before the only way around is to download Mac OS Sonoma Beta. Then wifi 6e will be activated and you will connect to wifi 6e on the 6.0GHz. If you need more informations look at my posts to know how to do it. After the Sonoma is installed everything will work perfectly and you'll get Wifi 6e. But Sonoma is a Beta software meaning that there can be glitches but nothing severe. Good Luck!

Bell Giga Hub is wifi 6e compatible. The problem is Apple's.

Yes indeed channel 69 is working just fine. But I recommend a bandwidth of 160 for faster speed and efficiency. That's my personal opinion and Apple also recommends 160.

You need to upgrade your Apple OS for Sonoma if you want to connect to wifi 6e on the 6.0GHz Band. Sonoma is till beta but it's working fine. It's going to replace Ventura in the fall. After that you'll be able to connect to the 6.0 Band from wifi 6e.

Wifi 6e won't work on Ventura. The only way around is to install Mac OS Sonoma. This beta version works fine and you access wifi 6e after installation. Then you would connect to wifi 6e and the 6.0GHz band. But you can wait for the official release of Sonoma next fall. And then, everything's will work juste fine. I only want to pinpoint the fact that it's not a problem with your Giga Hub from Bell. Instead it's a problem with Apple Venture.

I know there's a problem with the current stable release of MacOS and its 6e compatibility.

A broader issue, which has been discussed occasionally in the forum, is the Giga Hub's 6e functionality.

So I'd like to hear from those of us who have the Giga Hub and aren't Mac users. The prerequisites seem be:

  1. a device with a 6 GHz-capable network adapter
  2. an Intel Wi-Fi 6e AX 211 or AX411 chipset or an appropriate chipset from Broadcom
  3. running Windows 11or Linux-based ChromeOS

If you have the correct hardware are you getting a 6e connection?

Just wanted to chime in here and also mention, Giga Hub does provide Wifi 6(e) the big problem is, if you are using Bell's Wifi PODS, you need a specific one that provides also Wifi 6. The ones that usually come with the box doesn't support Wifi6 in any way
