Once these fraudsters have your email, they will do everything & anything to get you to select a link in the message to gain access to your personal information. Their whole goal is to steal from you. How did they get your email? Maybe a friends distribution list, a link that you selected, text message, maybe you added to another message or replied to another.etc., etc. It does not matter now. To stop getting these messages, it becomes next to impossible if the address is always different.

  1. You could change your email address. Unfortunately Bell does not offer email addresses any longer. If you delete your Bell email address, it will be gone forever including all its contents. You would also need to obtain another email address another supplier.
  2. You could delete spam email messages in bulk from your Inbox and send them in bulk to to Spam & Junk.
  3. You could possibly refresh your knowledge level with some of the links I have attached.

I wish I could offer up to you further solutions, but there are none today that seem to work. We do need tougher laws, but that is beyond yours & my circle of control.

I would recommend that you click "Mark as spam" from webmail (when you log in from http://www.bell.net) this will ensure the team managing Bell email service will be aware of this specific spam campaign, can investigate and block it. You can also send a copy of that email to abuse@bell.ca

To report as Spam in Bell webmail & place in your Junk mail, you need to select the appropriate message. Once you have selected this message, directly above, next to the Trash can there  is Circle icon with a Diagonal line through it. Select this & follow the prompts. This will mark the message as spam & place it your Junk folder. You can also do this in bulk from your Inbox.

The most important part of fraud prevention is education and awareness. Knowing about the different types of fraud, how to identify fraud attempts and what they look like, along with what to do next if you suspect fraud are key to increasing your protection.

Here are some links that will assist you in preparing to combat fraud:

I just received an email asking me to verify my email address, why now when I enrolled back in December?

You have provided me with very little information. Is this SPAM? Could be!

If you provided an email address to Bell when you enrolled last December, & it is correct, you should be able to view it in MyBell. If this message came from Bell, "why would they ask you to verify the email message that you just received if they already have it in your profile?" Did they explain to you the purpose & how you were suppose to validate this or did they provide you with a link to select?

Your original question was: " Is this Spam?" If you signed up for paperless with eBill, they would need your email address to communicate with you. This could be one reason.

You can verify if they have your correct email information by logging in to MyBell from within any web browser. Select > My profile. (Top of the screen.) This will take you to a Profile screen which will show your personal information listed on the right side. You will also be able to view your contact email address. If this is incorrect, then by all means, please correct this. When finished, select > Save. You are now finished.

I have included the following web link that explains paperless billing.

How to go paperless with e-bill

How to go paperless with e-bill : Stopping paper bills (bell.ca)

I wish I could offer you more, but I am working with very little information to go on.

Thank you for your question & concern.

Take care.

It's typically not a good idea to screenshot it as others might follow what is on the screenshot and end up getting possibly scammed themselves.

That is likely why it will not allow you to attach it here.

who can I speak with regarding spam emails I am getting ??

Thank you for sharing this with the Bell Community Forum. It is a never-ending circle of scams leading to theft. It is continual, day in & day out.

I cannot speak for all of the email messages you receive. In today's world there is so much fraud, phishing, number spoofing, etc. The crooks are trying to scam everyone with all of the tools at their disposal.

Reputable companies do not send emails to customers such as the one you mention.

Bell would never send you an email asking for personal information or advising you that you must do this or this or this! Do not reply to this email! Do not click on any links in this message! This is junk, fraud, phishing & just another example of fraudsters trying to get at your personal information!

Could someone from Bell call you & leave a message? Yes. Can fraudsters do the same yes? Bell will leave a callback number. Fraudsters for the most part will not!
There is no harm in clearing voicemails & returning legitimate calls. The issue is distinguishing one from the other. If unsure, delete the message, call, text, email. Treat as junk. Blocking the sender or number may or may not work.

Keep your personal information to yourself! Do not just hand this out to anyone who calls, emails you, sends a text. Do not open web links that are masked & sent to you in texts & emails!

Caution is the better part of valour! Rather to be safe than sorry!

I have attached a web a link to better assist you.

I keep getting emails such as this. Some time four to six per month and it is very annoying. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from occurring?

I got another of those emails from a hacker claiming to have put a Trojan on all of my devices and demanding money.  They show that they have my email password.  Obviously I deleted the spam email and changed my email password.

I had recently changed my email password and been taking extra care lately but still they obtained it somehow.  How do they obtain an email password?  Apart from the usual steps is there anything I should do specifically to keep my email password secure?

 Good Day.

It is unfortunate that you experienced this situation. Once they have gained access to your computer with a Trojan, they now have control of what you are doing.

To prevent trojan horses and other malware, I can only recommend using up-to-date anti-virus software, being cautious with email and file downloads, and regularly scanning your system.

Bell offers McAfee Security from Bell, which protects against viruses and malware on computers &mobile devices.

You mentioned changing your password. Great! What else did you do? Install any preventative software? Did you do a scan for any other Malware, viruses, trojans, etc.

Have you changed what you do & where you go on the internet? Do you share information with strangers based on the belief that they are legitimate?

The most important part of fraud prevention is education and awareness. Knowing about the different types of fraud, how to identify fraud attempts and what they look like, along with what to do next if you suspect fraud are key to increasing your protection.

I wish I could do more in assisting you in answer your question, Fraud is fraud.... it is theft! Never share anything with anyone you do not know. When in doubt say no! It is far better to be safe than sorry.

Take care.

I have many devices (iPhone, 2 iPads, MacBook, windows laptop) all with email and internet browsers.  So I don’t know which device was used to hack me.  I have removed my email accounts from the windows computer and now I will scan all my devices with an anti-virus app.

Good Day. @Phones

Thank you for updating us on your plans to scan your devices. If we can be of further assistance to you, please let us know.

If I can leave you with a couple of important points:

  1.  Do not share personal information with anyone you do not know or trust.
  2. Do not open links or messages in emails or text messages!
  3. Reputable companies such as Bell, banks, utilities & highly regarded services & institutions do not send you messages or make calls soliciting information or offering something for free.
  4. If in doubt, delete, delete, delete......

"If it is too good to be true, it is probably not true!"

Caution is always the better part of valor! STAY SAFE & BE CAREFUL!

Have a wonderful day.

Take care.

I have star- ted to get scam emails that have the same suffix but the prefix keeps changing.

firebaseapp.com is common to all of the emails but the prefix after the @ changes.  I had asked earlier about allowing the * after the @ to help block this type of email but nothing has happened with my request.  Blocking these emails is useless.

Any suggestions aside from flagging as junk and deleting them.  We should be able to block this type of activity.

Good Day.

You can try blocking the domain, “firebaseapp.com”. If the domain is continually changing, then this will not eliminate all of these emails. It may reduce some of them...... but not all.

It is unfortunate that you are experiencing this situation. There is little else I can offer up to you at this time that can solve this problem.

To prevent spam emails, trojan horses and other malware, I can only recommend using up-to-date anti-virus software, being cautious with email and file downloads, and regularly scanning your system.
