Robocall apparently from Bell - Your network protection has been removed. Is it a scam?

I just received a robocall which said it was from Bell. It said something like:

We've noticed that your network protection has been removed, which violates the terms of your network agreement. Press 1 to discuss this with an agent.

I hung up; sounds like a scam to me. I happen to be on Bell DSL but I doubt they knew that. Anyone else heard of a scam like this?

I goofed out of curiosity and pushed 1. The guy sounded iffy in his explanation. I hung up. Didn’t give any information, so I think we’re ok.

That is the right thing to do. Hang up. Do not push a number ! All he is trying to do is scam you. Next time do not even acknowledge you are even there. Once they have a live person, they will try to reach out to you again. Better safe than sorry!

I'm getting a robocall saying our network protection is disabled and that is a breach of terms of service....

My first guess is that it is a scam.

I did not except the McAfee or whatever the network protection because I have a full perimeter router with a AI-based security feature. And on various machines in the network, I have Avast, Defender, and some other stuff to protect the computers inside behind the perimeter.

They also (at the bell store) did not say that was a requirement. So for someone to come now and say that would  be a requirement, that would be a problem because we wouldn't have went with bell.

So, is this sort of call legit? Do I actually have anything to worry about?

Ignore the call and put them on your block list. Don't even answer them because they sometimes trick you into pressing key's on your phone, which then will connect you to some far away country and you get charged for the international call.

100% a scam.

Just hang up! There is no reason for you to talk to fraudsters. They want to talk to you. They want to sell you something, steal something or add you to their live contact list! Next thing you know, you will be getting more & more Robo calls, etc.

When in doubt .......... just hang up. Do not talk to them.

I received three calls saying the exact same thing to me. And recording told me to press #1.  I phoned Bell on the chat thing and told the guy what happened. He pulled up my account and said I was subscribed for McAffee virus thing and nobody from Bell had phoned that morning which was yesterday.  So I guess it is another scam. People have nothing better to do. I will just continue to hang up.

I received 2 robocalls today from a company claiming to be Bell.  The first one was the one described above about your network protection being manually turned off.  The second was about Bell converting all its lines to fibe.  Both sounded like scams and I hung up immediately.

This happens on a regular basis from scammers all over the world.  I've had ones claiming that my bell email account was going to be switched unless....   Or your one about network protections, etc.  Or I must re enable McAfee so just click here..., etc., etc.  The most hilarious ones being that Bell is switching over to fibe and you must....  Which is really funny as we switched over here about three years ago.
In actual fact, the only calls I've gotten from Bell is trying to upgrade me to a more expensive package.  That's the only time you'll ever hear from Bell.   🤗

Just rec'd a call from 1-661-877-**** claiming I removed my internet protection provided by Bell which is a breach of contract.   I believe this to be bogus.   Anyone else received this call?  And does Bell have a section dedicated for scams, either to report them or to read about them?  I couldn't find one.  Thanks
