What can we expect for a Southern Ontario Internet Dish Installation?

Hi,

High-speed internet is not available at our location, near Courtland, Ontario. We finally decided to install an internet dish - most likely on a tower (neighbours on both sides of us had to install towers).

I can’t be there on the day of installation -  another family member who is not very tech-savvy will be there.

If anyone can offer their experience on a similar installation, I’d appreciate it. This will help prepare my family member for the day of the installation. Specifically, we are wondering if the technician will have to connect a wire from the dish to the house and if so, what they will need to connect it to?(eg. Power?, phone line? both?)

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi there @SS,

Thank you for your post.

With a Wireless Home Internet installation the technician would install a device outside which would be the box to receive signal from the tower. From there they would run a line from the box down into the home, which would plug into the modem they will install. Depending on the line of sight, a post may need to be installed to receive signal, but that would be at the technicians discretion while they are.
