Hello, I don’t know if anyone else experiencing internet/data interruption when you are on call. It is happening to me all the time. Even I cannot check my emails when I am on call. Everything is normal as soon as I hang up. Thanks in advance!

Good Day.

Thank you for updating the community on your being able to use Voice and Video over LTE in a different location.

As mentioned in an earlier reply, Voice and Video over LTE coverage is available in select areas. Voice calls are made exactly the same way as you would make a call today. Since Voice over LTE is activated by default, all you need to do is place a call while in the applicable coverage area.

If you are on an eligible postpaid plan, video calls are made by selecting the video call icon found in the phone’s dial pad, call logs and address book.

Please refer to this Voice and Video over LTE availability in the: "Coverage" sub-section in the following web link: Voice and Video over LTE : (VoLTE)

Take care.

Thanks for your response. The fact that you did not have a problem in another area off another repeater suggests that more bandwidth might be available there ( not all cell sites are equal for technical reasons). It might also mean there is a technical issue with one cell site, which you noticed. Please let us know the resolution, when it appears.

Thank you for your question. Can you be specific regarding the make and model of your phone? Is the interruption only when you are making or receiving a call? Are you on speakerphone when this happens? Looking forward to your reply.

Hello, thank you for your fast response! My phone is iphone 16 pro max. It is not only happening to me. I asked my friends and tested then experienced the same issue on their phones. I call someone or someone calls me doesn’t matter same problem. On speaker or not, same problem. I called technical support today. No Volte option in settings, it is ON. Reset the network settings. Nothing changed. Hang up the phone then everything is perfect. Waiting for your response. Let me know if you have any other questions

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Hi @EnderS  VoLTE is always on. It can’t be turned off. iPhones running on iOS 14 or higher will automatically connect to LTE and will enable VoLTE by default.

To take advantage of this service, you must have:

  1. A compatible device.
  2. An eligible rate plan with data and an LTE or 5G SIM card. At this time, personal and corporate monthly plans. (postpaid plans) are eligible for both VoLTE and ViLTE. Prepaid plans are eligible for VoLTE only.
  3. Voice and Video over LTE network coverage

Video calling is only available between qualifying Bell postpaid customers. Both you and the recipient must have a compatible smartphone and a monthly (postpaid) plan & must also be within the Voice and Video over LTE coverage area.

Please reference the following document for specific details & instructions in how to make & receive Volte calls.

How to use Voice and Video over LTE : What is Voice and Video over LTE (VoLTE)?

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

Hello WelshTerrier, maybe it is my fault I couldn’t explain the problem very well. As you mentioned, it is not VoLTE ON/OFF issue. It was already verified. Your recommendation is on VoLTE. Even it is ON now, I have same problem and I am not only one having this problem. It should not be phone or setup related. Different phones have the same issue. I checked with different carrier, it is not happening. I have data access during on calls. I hope this will shed a light for better understanding. Thanks for your response.

Thank you for the clarification. While I am not an expert, a quick search on the topic you raise suggests that this is part of the way the cellular system is designed. In order to provide the best voice calling, the cellular system reduces data transmission and reception during the phone call. I invite you to search yourself to see how this is part of the way the cellular system actually functions.

Thank you for the search and try to help! Really appreciated! Just an update: i went to different city tonight and had a chance to try in different location. Result was different. I had no issue at that location. Based on my experience, looks like I have an issue in my area currently residing. I will review this with Bell. Thanks again!

Hello, Let me give you a brief summary on your/my problem. Bell shows almost all GTA area covered with VoLTE. But, there are some places, very small areas, not covered. If you are living in this kind of area, you will continue to have this issue. When you go out of that specific area, your phone/data will work very well. So, you need to test and verify that it is not happening everywhere. This was my case.

As result, no solution for this problem if Bell doesn’t upgrade their tower in your area. You can only call Bell and explain them you pay for a service but Bell doesn’t provide in your area. They might give you a discount.

Regards,
