When you log into your bell app, select service, and select your line, does it appear like this? I this pic? My fiancé and I also signed up for the essential 100 plan and was told it was 5G+, but I noticed in the app under essential 100 it just days “5G access” (I don’t see a + ).  Just wondering if yours looks like this too, any help is appreciated! Thank you!

5G/5G+ access requires a compatible device and a compatible rate plan (even if a 5G/5G+ symbol appears on your device). Coverage is approximate, may vary and may not include indoor coverage.

Speed, performance and whether a 5G/5G+ device uses the available 5G/5G+ network depend on various factors including: your rate plan, topography, environmental conditions, the current serving radio conditions at your location and whether the device is actively downloading or uploading data.

When you're in an area with 5G coverage, you'll see a 5G/5G+ icon in the status bar.

  1. Make sure you're in an area with 5G coverage.
  2. Verify your device Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options or Settings > Mobile Data > Mobile Data Options
  3. 5G/5G+ access requires a compatible device and a compatible rate plan (even if a 5G/5G+ symbol appears on your device). Coverage is approximate, may vary and may not include indoor coverage;

@novy-wan_kenobi I do not work for Bell. I am one member trying to help another member out in answering your question.

I did receive your private message. I can now view your picture. I am not familiar with this plan. I do not have access to your account details in order to confirm what is available & included in your plan.

As mentioned to you earlier, have you viewed what is included in your mobility plan by accessing your MyBell account online? If unsure, you can view all of your plan details in your mobility agreement which is located in your MyBell Profile > Mobility service.

Did you enter your postal code in to the 5G & 5G+ coverge map that I provide to your earlier? Please scroll to the bottom of the page to view the coverage area map & details at the bottom of the page.

If you still have any questions, I would suggest that you contact Bell Mobility Customer Service. 5G+ is something new that is only rolling out across Bell & not necesssarily available across all of Canada.

Take care.

Given that the image includes a Nova Scotia 911 charge, the question may be about Bell Aliant coverage.

You said you have the same $40 BYOD plan.  That’s why I am asking can you see if it appears the same in your MyBell? Does your MyBell say “5G Access” or “5G+ Access” ???

I don’t know why it’s so hard for you to answer my question.  You said you have the same BYOD Essential 100 plan.  Can you look at your MyBell account under services and see if it says “5G Access” or “5G+ Access”.  It’s a simple question? Bell told me this plan was 5G+ in the promo and on the phone, but when I log in under MyBell and look at my services it says 5G access for the essential 100 plan (I don’t see a +).  So can you please look at yours and tell me if it is the same or if in fact it says “5G+ Access”.  I sent you the exact screenshot, it shouldn’t be hard for you to answer.

Good Day.

Please reference my previous reply. I have included what I suggested to you: "I do not work for Bell. I am just one member trying to help another member out in answering a question."  "I am not familiar with this plan. I do not have access to your account details in order to confirm what is available & included in your plan."

"If you still have any questions, I would suggest that you contact Bell Mobility Customer Service."

If you wish to quote me, then, by all means quote me accurately. You mentioned that I said the following: "You said you have the same $40 BYOD plan." ??? Please enlighten me.

As I did suggest to you earlier, "I am not familiar with this plan."  I will now leave that with you.

Take care.

Good Day.

Are both of you both Bell mobility customers on separate plans? Are you planning on bringing your own devices?

If both of you have Smartphones & wanting unlimited shareable data plus Canada wide calling, the most economical plan is:

Essential 100 (BYOD Essential 100GB)

  • 100 GB of shareable data at our fastest available 5G+ speeds & unlimited data at up to 512 Kbps thereafter
  • 5G+ network access
  • SD video streaming
  • Hotspot capabilities
  • Unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting
  • Unlimited international texting

If both of you are existing Bell Mobility customers, you can view this plan on MyBell by logging in your account from any web browser. Select > Your mobility service. Select > Manage plan. Follow the onscreen prompts to view what is available for existing mobility customers.

There is also a Multiline discount of $20 per line. The $60 administration fee per service is waved if you do this online via MyBell.

You can view this plan on : Bell | Wireless, Internet and TV Service Provider in Canada

If you have any questions or concerns in just how to order this & the monthly costs, you should contact a Bell Mobility customer service representative.

My wife & I recently upgraded & changed over to this plan & we are completely satisfied.

Thank you posting your question.

Take care.

There ^ Does that enlighten you enough? Read above, and I quote "My wife & I recently upgraded & changed over to this plan & we are completely satisfied."  So can you please take a screenshot inside your app like I showed you in mine and show if it in fact says 5G+ because like I said I have the Essential 100 and inside the bell app it just says 5G access (as shown in the pictures I posted).  So I am trying to see if it matches up.  Please, it should not be this hard.  I'm not trying to be rude, I'm just trying to get a straight answer.  I hope to hear back soon.  Thank you.

With all respect, 5G/5G+ access is not dependent on a screen shot of a Bell plan but on two important factors. The first is your phone. Does your phone support the 5G/5G+ protocol? Most new phones (less than 2 years old) support that protocol. A look in your settings will confirm that.

The second aspect is your own location. According to the Bell coverage map, https://www.bell.ca/mobility/our_network_coverage#INT=Search_SearchResults_TitleLink there are areas where 5G is still being rolled out and is not yet available. Even if your phone is 5G capable, it will still connect at LTE or 4G service because that is what is available. That does not mean you will not have 5G coverage, just that it may not be available to you at that moment. That is not a fault on anyone's part, just the reality of the technology.

Because this is a user to user forum, neither community helpers like myself nor Bell staff have access to Bell phone plans, accounts and billing, for privacy reasons. I can't give your a comparison, for that reason. The odds are that if your phone is relatively new (less than 2 years), and 5G access is in your phone plan, you have 5G/5G+ access.

That may not be the answer you are looking for, but it is the best answer I can give you.

Thank you for your question. I hope this clarifies matters for you.

It still does not answer my question at all.  Also, Welsh Terrier requested I “enlighten” and “quote” them, so I did, and I’d appreciate if they would acknowledge that, considering they’re a community all star.  A reply from them would be nice, thank you.

Hey there @novy-wan_kenobi

We wanted to jump in and assist with your inquiry.

Below you can find additional details on 5G+;

How to get on 5G+? New or existing customers who are on an Ultimate plan, with a compatible device and in a 5G+ service area, will automatically have access to 5G+ speeds. This way, they can continue to enjoy the plans they love now, with faster speeds. Essential and Promo tier plans do not have 5G+ access at the time of this post.

Which devices are compatible? Compatible 5G+ device and rate plan, who are inside the Bell 5G+ coverage areas, can take advantage of Bell 5G+ speeds. Here are a few examples of compatible devices: Google Pixel 4 and newer, Samsung Galaxy series 21 and newer, iPhone 12 series and newer. Most eligible devices will now display a 5G+ icon when connected to the 5G+ network.

We also invite you to visit 5G and 5G+ NetworksOpens in a new tab or window on Bell.ca for more details.

Let the Community know if you have more questions.

Thank you for your comment. I see that Bell staff has responded to your question. I hope that answers your question. For the reasons I outlined, we can not answer your question about plans as specifically as you might like. I hope the answer provided by Bell staff makes matters clear.

Hello,

Do you not understand the question I’m asking?  I have an iPhone XR right now, so I do not have a 5G compatible device.  BUT, I am purchasing an iPhone 16 when they come out in September which will be 5G & 5G+ compatible.

Now take a look at the picture of my contract that I have attached.

LET ME ASK THIS AGAIN:

If I am on a 5G+ device, in a 5G+ area, am I going to have 5G+ access with the Bell Essential 100 plan that I signed up for last month?

How hard is this to answer? The offer bell we got clearly said access to our 5G+ network, the sales rep told me I would have 5G+ access, but my contract only says 5G access, and nobody can give me a straight answer at all why there is a discrepancy???  I tried calling customer service, they don’t even know the difference between 5G & 5G+.

Please, look at the picture I have attached and tell me if when I get my iPhone 16, a 5G+ compatible device, and when I’m in a 5G+ service area, will I in-fact have access to the 5G+ with the current rate plan I have???

I look forward to a response, thank you.

Thank you for your clarification. You have provided information which now allows me to answer your question more explicitly. You are correct. Your iPhone XR does not have 5G/5G+ capability. The upcoming iPhone 16 will have full 5G/5G+ capability. Your plan appears to allow that capability. I can't comment on specific plans, as I said, however. To be perfectly straight, the answers to your two questions, given the parameters you now provide are, Yes and Very Likely.

Some cautions around expectations. The iPhone 16 may or may not ship on the announcement day.  Apple announces new phones in September. This is called a paper launch. However, the new phone may or may not be ready to ship by Apple. Bell has no control over that. I have an iPhone 15 Pro, which was ordered directly from Apple, shortly after release in 2023, but did not arrive until November 2023. Apple announced but did not ship the iPhone 15 for several weeks after their announcement of the new phone. Be prepared for that eventuality.

Second, I am glad you recognize the limitations of 5G/5G+. The protocol is not available everywhere in Bell's coverage area. Bell's coverage may is helpful in finding that information out.  https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Our_network_coverage . In that way all carriers are the same. There are also technical limitations related to distance from cell towers which can cause the 5G signal to drop to a lower speed protocol, from 5G to LTE to 4G. This is normal for all cell phones, no matter who is the provider.

Thank you for your questions. I hope this is helpful.

Good Day.

This is a community forum. As such, we do not have access to your account & specific details. We strive to assist and answer your questions as best we can.

If you are looking for an official company position on your question, then you should contact Bell Mobility Customer Service & request to speak to a manager.

Unofficially, probably Yes.

I am not sure any one answer that is provided to you on the Bell Community Forum will satisfy your question.

Needless to say, all of us tried our best……

Take care.
