Has anybody experienced 5g+ on an android device?

Hi,

I'm using pixel 6 which supports 5g SA band, but have never seen 5g+ on my device (I'm on a 5g plan, but my pixel is not from bell). I was wondering whether it's because my phone is not from bell, or there might be an update or something like ios16.4 that has enabled 5g+ on iPhone, should be rolled out to my divide?

Finally it got fixed, I erased my network stack including my esim and redownloaded my esim profile in person at Bell store. Now, 5g+ icon is showing up.

Hey there @moesma

Thanks for your post.

The Google Pixel 6 is compatible with the 5G+ network as long as it is updated to it's latest OS version. It is possible that since it is a grey market device (from a different carrier or country) that it can affect it's access to the 5G+ network.

Keep an eye on your updates and also check out to make sure that you're in a 5G+ area by checking out our Coverage mapOpens in a new tab or window

My device is updated to the latest version (March 2023),  and I am in 5G+ area. but as you said my guess is that the reason is my device is from a different carrier. I talked to Bell customer service and they just updated my IMEI and said I can access to 5G+ once I am in the coverage area, but still the same. Is that an issue which needs to be fixed by Bell or the previous carrier?

I just called Bell technical support and they said everything is fine on their side. I would be really grateful if anybody helps me with this

Hey guys!

Ported my number from Fido a few days ago and haven't been able to receive 5G once on my Samsung Flip5. Also have really poor signal. Called technician and they said that my network speed was reset and I had to monitor after 24 hours, but no change. I then went to Bell store and customer service told me all he could do was switch the SIM card. Still no change. Never had this issue with Fido.

I got a new cell phone from Bell and a new plan with 5G+ network also from Bell. Only problem is I never get 5G+ where I live. I learned that the 5G+ network is available to only 51% of Canadians…what? So how and why am I paying for 5G+ network when I can’t access it? I guess I was naive to think I would get what I pay for! Can anyone tell me why Bell would sell me 5G+ network when I can’t access it??? I was in Caledonia Ontario the other day and I had absolutely zero service and where it’s supposed to say 5G+ it said SOS….never saw that before???

Thank you for your question. Not all of Bell’s network has 5G ability, much less 5G+. The network where I live still has LTE coverage in many areas. You do not pay a premium for 5G. Everyone pays the same rate. It is your phone which determines what signal is best in a specific location. It your phone says SOS, it means you can call 911 using satellite connection but not more than that. I hope that is helpful. If you have more questions, please ask.

Good Day.

@Deb363 I have included the most current 5G & 5G+ information that is available on Bell.ca.

5G & 5G+ are the newest for cellular network coverage. It is not universally available in all locations. It is being rolled out across Canada. There is no charge for 5G & 5G+ network access. In order to use 5G & 5G+, your device must be a Smartphone that has 5G & 5G+ capabilities.

It is hard to predict when everyone will have access to 5G & 5G+. Please refer to the following web link for further information & a coverage map.

5G and 5G+ Networks | Network | Bell Canada

SOS mode is simply a way for your device to tell you that you don't have a proper cellular connection, meaning you're only able to call or text emergency services through the cellular network.

For further information please contact Bell Mobility. Please call: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Thank you for posting your question.

Take care.
