How to change my mobile phone number

You can change your mobile phone number, for example, if you move or if you’d like a special number similar to your home number.

The only way to change your mobile phone number is through a Bell Mobility authorized dealer. If you want to keep a phone number you have with another wireless service provider, you must visit a dealer so that they can transfer the number for you.

Due to recent updates, mobile number changes via bell.ca are unavailable until further notice.

Service charges

There’s a one-time mobile number change fee of $50 for changing your mobile phone number. For a special number, the one-time mobile number change fee is also $50, which includes the special number search and the number change. The $50 mobile number change fee will appear on your monthly bill. If you have a Prepaid plan, you must pay the fee in store.

If the wrong mobile phone number was assigned to you when you activated your account, you’ll have to go back to the same dealer, who will correct the mistake at no charge. If your mobile device was activated over the phone, you’ll have to call the same number to make the correction.
Only the owner, an authorized contact or a person whose name appears on the account can request a number change.

  • Unfortunately, we can’t provide a recorded greeting notifying callers that the number has changed.
  • If you are currently enrolled in a university or college and have a valid student ID, you are entitled to two free number changes per year.

Hi, I just wanted to know:

1. Is it expensive to change phone numbers in Canada? My contact number starts with (819) but I live in Ottawa and I want to get it changed to (613). How much would it cost to change my number?

2. If I switch my phone service from Bell to some other company, would it still cost me to change my contact number or would it be less expensive this way?

Thank you

I have move to a next province

You will need to contact Bell Mobility if you are moving to another province. There are a number of other factors that need to be addressed including change of home address, mobility plan, Long Distance calling, billing, etc.

Please give Bell Mobility a call. They will need some specific details & can assist in answering any further questions.

Bell Mobility phone number to call: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Take care.
