Mobile service in the GTA

I have the newest iPhone and the capability of 5G. I work all over the GTA (Brampton to Pickering, Toronto to Barrie) and it doesn’t matter, where I am it is rare to have full service! My service is slow and takes time to load.. half the time my phone gets kicked down to LTE or 3G.. I’m wondering, where does bell actually offer 5G? Small pockets? Specific parks maybe. I am finding 5G way worse than LTE was. Bell no longer has the infrastructure they once had.

Hi there, @Moore. Welcome to the Bell Community.

For the Community to be better able to assist you, could you please provide further details as to the issues you're experiencing?

Do keep in mind that many factors can limit signal strength; topography, environmental conditions, line of sight to towers, types of buildings in your area, etc.

  • Do you know of anyone else in the area having similar issues?
  • Have you tried changing the network settings in your phone? Sometimes preventing your phone from searching for 5G can free up resources to focus on LTE instead.
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  • Have you gotten in touch with our technical support team to open a ticket?

My phone internet not working properly alot of time. I live in GTA still its very slow sometimes it just loading. I have a esim on my iphone 13 pro max

I live in postal code N1L*** I have 5G with bell but I am always getting only one bar and every time i call someone the call breaks. Please increase your network coverage in Guelph

I have network outage issues main areas of gta.. i have complained their technical team many times but looks like no one care.  I think that’s why rogers is taking over everywhere. Bell people don’t care about this company. I thinking to switch with other company now

Same in Barrie area. I cannot drive from my area to Barrie without losing a call. 20 plus years as a Bell user driving the same roads and the service has gotten worse in past few years. We have 4 phones and will are constantly drop calls in the following areas. Signal goes from full bars to zero.

44.4442664, -79.7599855
44.4216459, -79.7598386
44.3930566, -79.7955901
44.3741648, -79.7816168
44.4405599, -79.9443890
44.4977130, -79.7653016
44.5226039, -79.7349417

Don't recall having this many bad spots in the past.

Is anyone experiencing any slowness of 5G+ in downtown area? I have seen my signal fluctuates from okay to dead. In some area, it struggles and then switches to LG? My work phone is Rogers and it is consistently fast. Should I move to Rogers after 15 years with Bell?

Anyone else experiencing rapidly diminishing cell signal in Southern ON. I am sure it is fantastic on TO but no where else. HWY 6 between Gueloh and Fergus you will get NO signal. How sad is that? By no means out in the country.

I live in Holland Landing and the reception is terrible, I can’t make phone calls from my house even with WiFi calling. Are there any plans on building more towers to fix this issue?

Thank you for your question. There are many reasons for your wireless signal drop. I encourage you to see @BellKris's response, with the green checkmark as  a Most Helpful Reply, for a list of things you can do to improve your own cell reception.

Is there an issue with Bell's mobile coverage?  I moved from Fido's 4G network to Bell's 5G, but my reception since I moved over a month ago has been terrible.  Fido at 4G provided much better reception than Bell.  The reception is usually at either 1 or 2 bars at home for both my lines currently.  One line is located in Markham and the other in the core downtown Toronto.  Is there a lack of Bell towers?  I may need to switch back to the Rogers network because of this.

Week old Bell mobility user here, so far it was much faster and better coverage than freedom mobile. Speed test and fast.com shows 100 mbps in bad conditions and 200 mbps near a 5g+ tower  which is fine but I've read bell network can do 1.5 gbps is some areas, so my question is where are those? I'd like to test it when I'll be in that area.

We recently switched to Bell mobility from Rogers after years of being with them since Bell had a better offer.

We are located in Oakville ON but we do lots of day trips and driving. After being with bell we very quickly realized that the map they have for the coverage is nonsesne. As soon as you drive out of Burlington going west, there are LOTS and i mean LOTS of blind spots. My wife's phone is LTE and mine is 5G and we both have the same issue at the same spots. and you can drive for 10 minutes through these spots and you wont get reception back.

We have driven towards Cayuga/Port Dove/ Port Stanley and further and there are SOOOOO many dead spots. You cant even use the phone map.
I mean we would drive for 15-20 minutes straight and still no signal

This is mind baffling as ive been with Telus as well as Rogers in the past and i never had this much issue. Everytime i called in they tried to reset my phone network settings... but we cant have tow phone, different models, different data protocols and both go dead at the same wide spots.

Has anyone found a solution to this because Bell at this point is pretty unusable unless you're tucked around the main parts of bigger cities. The second you go to the country side from any direction btw, you start losing service for long distances.
